10 worst cities for commuters
I can't believe L.A. and San Fran were at the bottom of the list. Surely we have the worst traffic but Forbes doesn't rank it that way.

eh, I think in LA its inconsistent. traffic flows a lot heavier in some directions than others, and it helps a lot of you explore different routes during diff seasons. my old commute from west LA to downtown was really awful. took anywhere from 45 to 1hr 30 mins each way. On the other hand, my current commute rom west LA to reseda isn't too bad at all. 30 mins each way tops.
I really believe that key to happiness (or hell) in Los Angeles is to be realistic when it comes to finding work. makes no sense at all how some ppl choose to live out in Ontario to save maybe $200 on rent, just to loose $400 on gas and immeasurable time and frustration on their daily commute. |

wow, that's awesome. I'd imagine LB would be a lot nicer when it comes to traffic. I'd really consider moving out there one day if the circumstanced are right, seeing its well located between LA and OC. not as ghetto as LA, but not quite as boring as OC either. I like LB for the most part.

yeah...i love long beach. it's right in between la and oc so you can go just about anywhere from here in no time. i work in santa ana so my commute is only like 30-45 mins tops. though, i've been able to get to work in as little as 20 mins when the 22 fwy's wide open. thank god the construction's completed!

Surprinsing that we're far from worse. Anyone notice the mention of the IE
I live in the IE and commute to save over $800 on rent. Plus I drive an xB to commute so gas isn't too bad.

wtf, where's chicago or NYC? i guess Forbes thinks public transportation is just as good as a car. lawl.
and the last time i drove through atlanta, the average speed seemed to be about 90. people are fucking insane there. i figured they were all trying to get away from the ringtone rap.

"The average Detroit commuter is delayed 54 hours a year, more than residents in California's sprawling "Inland Empire" cities of San Bernardino and Riverside, who log 49 hours of delays; and more than Chicago or Boston, 46 hours each." I commute from the IE to LBC. 91-sucks big time either way, prepare to grow old 57-(between 10 & 91) bad in afternoon Northbound, not too bad in morning 60-is acutally decent in the morning, slow from the 605 to the 57 in afternoon (westbound afternoon) 10-is good both ways (for me at least) 15-(between 60 & 10)-to short to really complain about 605-is slow moving morning & afternoon commute

I used to live in Anaheim Hills and commute to Buena Park on the 91.
I hated it. Always took forever to get home, it would usually be dark by the time I did, even in summer. I now live in Long Beach really close to Seal Beach, and commute to Garden Grove. It's great. 15-20minutes in the morning, between 15-35 minutes at night depending on how the tiny section of the 22 I use is. |

Yeah, when driving thru LA it just depends on what road your on or where you need to get to
I recall some being bad unless you hop in the carpool lane.. but my best experience was I-5 from irvine, then the 101 hollywood then back on the I-5 to head north towards norcal get some slowing (like 45~50mph) but for the most part of morning to midday traffic its great, sames goes for the 10 during the afternoon going westbound bay area isnt as bad, think the bart helps out with some of the stuff going on in the streets.

so from all the replies, i guess traffic fucks us all, then we gotta get gas from the gas stations and get foooked some more by the gas prices!
damn, if there was a train from long beach to o.c. i'd def take it. we only have the blue line that takes you to downtown la. |

I was surprised Chicago wasnt on there either, with how bad the Circle Interchange can get. But, there have been a lot of improvements lately. It used to take me over a hour to drive to work every day, when they were completely rebuilding the Dan Ryan it took me up to 1.5 hours. Now it takes me less than a half hour.

I've been to a lot of those places.
Atlanta traffic really does suck. DC traffic seems a little worse than they make it. FL...no comment. LA isn't as horrible as ATL imo, but it is pretty lame

Haha #4 wtf, I knew it was getting bad but it's not that bad as long as you don't hit key hours like 8-9am or 5-6pm.
And yes I-95 Miami is a fucking death trap. I wouldn't drive my car in that direction, I'll get a rental. edit: People in Miami drive crazy fast and stupid. One time coming from Miami back home to Orlando I saw a black car (couldn't recognize it) flattened like a soda can and a red F150 split in half, people died that night.
