I would have tried out a cross flow radiator first before doing that. The issue with having a radiator where the upper and lower neck are on the same side is that the coolant sometimes doesnt stay in the radiator long enough to cool down. Well atleast compared to an SR radiator where the necks are on the opposite sides, coolant has a longer distance to travel and sits in the radiator longer.
Also, ducting does wonders...the more air you force thru the radiator instead of around it, the better itll work. Start by looking at the gap between the fan shroud and the radiator. If you have any open gap, thats air going around the radiator and not thru it. After that, check the gap in front of the radiator and around it. You want to force as much air flow into the radiator and not go around it. There is no point of adding a cooling panel up top if the bottom and sides are open...Air will just flow that way. Remember, itll follow the least resistance.
