The wastegates are the variable in my A/B test and I understand your variable is the downpipe itself, however this is where I think you're wrong. Removing restriction and adding more exhaust velocity through the turbine housing will not result in wastegate 1 with a constant efficiency rating of 55%. I believe this decreases at a non-linear rate when you realize the inside of a turbine housing is not just exhaust pressure and volume, but also like the exhaust of a jet engine.
