Here's a little secret though. The KA24E has that same wire that goes through a resistor and to the ignitor. That signal is split between going to the ECU and going to the tach DIRECTLY. The direct signal and the sigal produced by the ECU in KA24DE's and SR's is different which is why the tachs arent directly compatable. HOWEVER, if you cut the wire going to the tach, and splice it into that signal coming from the ignitor, you can run a KA24E tach with your KA24DE. Both wires are yellow with a red stripe. I've had a single cam tach in my dohc for a while now works fine with that small modification.
