Of course these are also somewhat of universal truths. Fact is, man is not perfect and does sin. Fact is, if you have a sense of guilt or regret for the sin or mistake and strive to change, it shows you want to be better. In effect you save yourself.
For the people that don't believe in God for the people who do you are trying so God forgives and if you believe in Jesus it just reinforces that belief of forgiveness on Gods part.

Now, what about hte people that try and convince themselves that "They " are good Christians in front of others... the ones that go out of there way to make sure you HEARD them say " Jesus is my Savior " .. wheres the Jesus Hat, Shirt, and even pants (believe is or not, there is a guy that works here that is JUST like that.. SO F'ng Annoying)... Or uses the line " ooh dont show me that, its not god like".. and all's you are showing them is a pictures of a Chicken Salad Sandwhich... .
