CodyAce swears by JWT, and they're highly rated. If you want a super nice standalone you could go with a Haltech Platinum Sport, a lot of people tune them. Or AEM, or PowerFC if you've got someone to tune it.
The post up there ^^^ answers the pistons thing in association with the head gasket. Keep in mind that what I said is just my understanding and opinion and what I did. You can see all the deets here:

my buddy runs a 1.8 Tomei HG with only Tomei Poncams and Tomei Reytec without anything decked and the thing is super quick on 1 bar. Not sure what it's output is, but it can hang. I'd say go with the 1.5 to be safe.
