Help!

What does this go to?

I picked up my 5 speed for my swap 2 days ago and I found this in the trunk. At first I thought it was a broken snap ring for the shifter since it doesn't have one but the ends don't look broken, they look like they were made like that. Please help me and identify this.

i'm pretty sure that is the snap ring for the stock shifter.
