Simple & Fun R32 Build
After having a few project cars in the states, and never having time to finish anything, figured it was about time to just get something completely stock and DRIVE it while adding things as needed.
Spending the last two years back and forth in Japan, meeting people from all over the world at Matsuri's and driving some amazing tracks, it was clear that a few things were common in the Japanese culture; keep it simple, be prideful of what you have and ENJOY yourself. With this in mind, I picked up a fairly bone stock R32 GTS-T Type M. It was originally imported by Japanese Car Classics and had since had 2 owners. It was stock motor, but with some good maintenance done and a few Cusco goodies. I street drove it around for a week or two like this, and just enjoyed it. Signed up for an event at Panthera Circuit in West Virginia. It was a private training facility, but we got the chance to drive it and it was sick! It was the closest thing I've driven to Higashi Circuit at Ebisu. I added a few things prior - some aero bits because I liked the look; lower lip pieces, and side skirt extensions. Tied things together for me. Also snagged a few sets of KR20's. I ran these Front and Rear. Great balance! Brutus loves road trips. He's 7 months and already 85 pounds. So, we loaded up, left at 3am and headed 8 hours south to Atlanta!

Unloaded the 32, cleaned it out, and... missed the meeting. I haven't had so much fun at an event since my last Nikko day. The Motorland SP layout was well worth the long drive. A Japanese style track, that's actually accurate, allows slower cars to chase down faster cars since the main corner is a deceleration corner and it'ss all about the brake work.This made the 32 even more fun. A few things came up during the event; I need an oil cooler. The SMIC didn't heat soak nearly as bad as at Panthera. This was much less stressful on the car, but I still want to get the FMIC done before the next event. Angle; I had fun pushing the car as is, but I'm going to add some rack spacers. It was such a fun time chasing him down! We ended up going OMT and I spun on my lead entry trying to push a little more, hah! This event reminded me of driving in Japan. Open circuit layout, on a tight technical course...I can't say enough how much fun this was.

I dragged the rear bumper down the entry barriers and I was shocked that it scuffed and actually left a dent. I told myself to stay off them the rest of the day.. In our battle Dustin gave me a hell of a love tap, and push in the passenger door a bit. I told him tire marks only! Haha! All in all it gives the car some character. I could tell something was coming loose in the front suspension and bet it was one of the Camber Arms. Also, I developed a bit of an exhaust leak, but I guarantee it's the downpipes bolts/nuts again. Cruised over to Japanese Car Classics' Open House with the 32. We showed up a few hours after it started and I guess we missed the rush. Still some cool cars though. Brought my camera and snapped some of my favorites. Enjoy!

Looks like a good foundation for a fun street/ track car. Hope to see that it remains presentable and the drift damage gets fixed.

Small update - just want to keep this thread alive. Haven't really done much lately; just cruising around with the car.

Noticed I have an exhaust leak, and I believe it's coming from Turbo to Manifold Gasket. Some bolts backed out of the DP to Turbo, so I'm guessing the same thing happened. I tossed back on the stock Inners/Outers and it feels better. The ATL guys are rad, great style and driving ability. I’m pretty sure that’s the Veilside wing that went with the FD3S Fortune widebody. Glad to see you started a build thread for the R32! I’m looking forward to more updates

Thanks guys! Yeah, it’s a Fortune Veilside wing for an FD, but fits nicely!
Since the stock turbo is a ticking time bomb and my T3 gasket just recently ended it’s life, I picked up a real HKS 2530 Kai off eBay. |

I've been so busy. Ran a local drift event and it was super rad! Great time and great exciting driving.
