the symptoms are well known especially in africa. I doubt he was that oblivious. his nephew spoke out. that he was a cautious dude and the pregnant lady story was fabricated.
like many who catches it feel ashamed and hide it. knowing they are endangering others. a selfish act. which is why Nigeria is succeeding by changing their state of mind about it.

^^^There's is a report that that woman did exist, died and was buried after being cleared by the local hospital in Monrovia, Liberia. Fabricated? Not fabricated? Decide for yourself. I just find it hard to believe that most of the ppl judging him for making a selfish act seem to by implying that they themselves would NOT act selfishly when faced with a similar decision of self-preservation. I struggle to see what I would have done differently if I were faced with those same decisions. Oh well, whatever. It's blowing over now and the 24 hour media cycle is already moving on to sensationalize the next big story.

^^^Agreed. Totally overblown. The 2 nurses are recovering and the watch lists are shrinking. The news cycle has already moved on to the shootings in Canada. Ebola in the US is old news now.

That's not a small number...And granted it's tougher to get than Hepatitis, it's easier to get than HIV..Be on your guard if you travel or work in the health care industry is all I'm sayin'

It's funny how some people just blow off ebola. Sure, right now, at this point in time, you almost certainly will not get it. But situations do change.

Today's generation is slightly ignorant to infectious disease, due to all of the medical advancements we get to enjoy. Most people have not heard of the Flu of 1918, but something similar will eventually happen again. This future epidemic will be even deadlier due to today's population density and modern modes of transportation.

Ebola is a virus, which deals mainly with genetic information. With each new generation of virus, it has a high chance to mutate; maybe deadlier or less, maybe more contagious or less.

it is much easier to get the Flu then Ebola. more people die every year from the flu then have died from Ebola since it has been discovered.

Ebola is very serious, but it must be kept within context. If we where in Liberia, yeah, I'd be scared shitless. But doctors I talk to here in the US are more concerned about West Nile virus than Ebola. That virus is easier to contact than both aids & ebola and it really is quietly killing people here in the US every summer. 54 dead this year so far, 15 of which have been from Cali.

the Huffington post article is kinda funny. 7 days later the Huffington post wrote an article saying that 52 people died in a week from the flu in California.

I work at NIH. My building is right next to where Nina Pham was treated. lol I even ran into Dr. Fauci who is the chief of NIH Infectious Disease. I knew it would have died down.

What really made me upset about all this were all the dumbasses who complained about bringing Nina Pham to the NIH in Bethesda, MD.

I'm sorry, but I would want her to come here. This is the largest medical research facility in the world. Glad she was treated and cured!
