Perfect Strtetch for 17x9.5 +12
 

What size tire would achieve that perfect stretch look? I see a lot of people debating and arguing between 215 and 225 n 40 or 45 series, someone please help me cause I need to order tires ASAP I have my wheels sitting in my bedroom and they're begging to get on my car. lol Thank you

215/40 done deal, make sure you get it mounted with a cheetah

215-40....Nankang Ns-II's are a REALLY good stretch tire too btw....

Does anyone know any good chain tire shops or any shops for that matter in the Northwest (just got stationed up here) that use a Cheetah? Also I planned on running Dunlop Direzza DZ101's if that matters...

That tire in 215 is only made in 18 and 19 applications... According to their website

But the Direzza DZ101 doesn't come in 215/40 sooo I'd prefer Yokohama S.drive, does this tire stretch well?

Please don't run stretched tires unless you're low. It does serve a purpose besides looks. Stretch+stock height= no

But anyways. Yes, the S-Drives stretch just fine. My friend runs them and loves them. Just make sure to use a cheetah.

Is a cheetah a bead seater? And is it widely used by big tire shops (i.e. Discount Tire, Les Schwab, etc.)?

Yeah, it's just a high pressure bead seater. Makes stretching WAY easier. I can't say about the tire shops, because I go to a little family business, but I'd assume they do.

Most of the time, from what I've experienced, is that places like Les Schwab won't mount tires that require a stretch to fit. And no, they won't usually have cheetahs or anything of the sort. They might put the tires on but won't bead them for you.

275/40's, then you can actually use your x9.5's for what they are designed for :cj:

Ohh of course ;) , I just don't see any reason to put a heavier wheel on if you're not going to use the width you paid for, if you only want to run 215's you could easily run that on an 8in wheel and paid less for your wheels, but I know offset is everything and its a lifestyle choice and illest/hellaflush/bright colors all that other bullshit that goes along with your stretched tires, and buying rims so wide you don't have any choice but to stretch the tires to fit them.

The thing is if you really don't care about getting actual rubber on the rim why not go get some wheels that aren't as wide and toss a smaller tire on like a 195 on an 8 so you can still get that "stretched look" that you desire so much but without spending so much coin on tires.

215/35 is the best yet

I have gambellas that are 9 and im running a 225-40-17 and honestly i think it sucks the tire falls off everytime the pressure drops a bit and i want to go a bit wider or sell these shits

Thats okay though I'm sure 4 17x9.5's are only 5 bucks more per wheel than 17x8's(SARCASM), I just figured since you guys are being a bunch of cheap asses anyways because you're putting tires sized for 8 inch wheels on a 9.5 you might as well get an 8 inch wheel. Haha, an 8" v. a 9" of the same model wheel is still maybe a $20 difference, saving probably a whopping 10% of the final price. That's a lot of money when you're throwing down 1k+ for wheels (sarcasm).

I wanted to ask the same question.... why does everyone seem to like stretching the shit out of these small (too narrow) tires on wide wheels? If you notice you have left the entire edge of the rim exposed to anything that comes close to hitting it. There will be no protection from the rim guards that are on most perf tires. If it's a certain look you guys are going for more power to you. I personally like my tires pretty flush with the rim, I was just curious as to why people put 215's on a 9" rim? There's an ass for every seat and that's what makes the world go around, never hurts to ask a question.

i have 18x9.5 with +30offset. and using 225-40 front and 255-40 rear. i love the look on the 225... but im looking to get 235 for the front.
