T6 Hypereutectic Pistons
 

I was wondering if anyone knows of where I can get four T6 Hypereutectic pistons for a kA24E? Or maybe a good shop that can custom make pistons? I have checked all over the internet and found out how easy it is to get forged pistons, but not Hypereutectic.

Are you looking to raise or lower compression? Keep it stock? Bigger bore, or OEM?

Are the stock pistons T6 hypereutectic or are they just hypereutectic? I am going to deck the block and get the cylinder head resurfaced. I still have to calculate what the compression ratio will be after that is done.

I plan on running 12psi and want T6 Hypereutectic pistons due to thier stronger ring lands.

Stock pistons are hypereutectic, and T6 hypereutic are just heat treated. You can cryotreat stock pistons for the same effect.

Hypereutectic pistons have more silicon (~12% total) than stock pistons. Their main advantages being reduced chance of ring/grove welding and reduced piston ring grove wear. If higher piston strength is needed, then generally, a piston manufacturer will ass more copper and nickel to the alloy to gain extra high temperature strength, which reduces the silicon content percentage, negating the hypereutectic naming. If you want a stronger piston with high silicon content, look at JE forged pistons. Very high silicon content in those, and forged pistons are stronger than a cast piston (no matter what form of metallurgy (hypoeutectic are strongest cast pistons.. but expansion rates are high, hypereutectic are weakest, but have the tightest clearances.) Forged are still stronger.

Yeah the hypereutectic pistons have a silicon content of 16%. I have looked it over and will go with forged, there are some high silicon content forged pistons that I have found on a couple of sites.

I am only looking at running 12psi with about 250 calculated horsepower, it's that I want to build the motor strong. I have already started on the cylinder head so I am trying to put together everything else.
