NA 240sx Nissan Competition Class interest thread!
 

Hi Everyone,

As you know, I run the Nissan competition series alongside Corner3 Garage and Extreme speed track events!

Keep in mind this is a Time trial type of competition run in conjunction with an HPDE and the times at the end of the day are put together to provide us the winners/rankings.

I drive an S14 myself so, naturally, I wanted to include the 240sx/S-Chassis community in our efforts to get more cars out to the track and have some fun!

I was thinking about creating a class Specifically for NA 240sx's/Silvia's.

Who here would be interested?

As for rules I would like some people to chime in, but this is what I was thinking.(Not everyone is going to agree)


1. Naturally Aspirated KA or SR
2. Street tires only Must be DOT rated. (No UTQG required for test season)
3. Exhaust mods are open(headers to catback)
4. Only 1 or 2 way coilovers are allowed(rebound or rebound/compression)
5. Suspension arms/pickup points are open.
6. Brake mods are open
7. Safety mods are open
8. Camshaft mods are open
9. Chassis must retain original unibody(No spaceframes allowed just in case GKtech decides to finish their project and someone buys one! LOL)
10. Aero mods are open

I'm also on the fence about built motors/High comp NA motors.

I will be starting the competition with a test season this year!

First event will be August 24th!

7.Track Day @Chuckwalla Raceway- Sep 29th
8.Track Day @Nov 24th AAA Speedway Roval
9.Track Day @Dec 8th Buttonwillow

Do a Spec Miata type ruling. Untouched motor with limited chassis modification.

It would be nice to open up the rules on the motor to promote some developement on the KA NA.

Definitely agree on this.

Maybe I can get Tomei on as a sponsor with all of their newly developed KA parts.

We already have OS Giken, Swift springs, Corner3 garage, and Berk Technology as sponsors for this year!

Pro 7 rules. Keeps the playing field level and cheap. Aka more people can stand a competitive chance.

so any stock sr20det with a t25 doesn't qualify....this is strictly NA - ka24de, sr20de, ka24e etc....correct?

I would be interested in this one, but to be fair, you have to assess the market and average participants.

Being an NA KA/SR mod, the consideration of weight is extremely important. i'm actually all for the enthusiast class rules with point system. You want to balance out between $10,000 budget KA N/A build car and those full "garage sponsored" teams. This is a new class and it is introductory so alienation would suck so bad.

I think motor should be unlimited to push developement on the KA as long as it is NA and no NAAS. Suspension should be open along with aero. Put a cap on tires. Should be interesting since tires and power will be the limiting factors.

Would this be for 2014?

this would be really cool to see.. if someone really got a heavily tuned NA KA, ITB's, equal length headers, E85 tune with intense timing, heavy cams, high compression..

id love to see someone break the 250whp NA - KA barrier

I just came back 2 days ago for SoW Night event CCW.

Let me tell ya, I didn't think I sucked so badly just because it was at night and first time in CCW configuration. however....

Holy crap for some reason our last update did not post!

Our last event was held at Chuckwalla Raceway on September 29th!

This calm Sunday led us to a great day with an open track for the majority of time that we were there!

Most people left halfway though the day, but for the street class guys there was a lot of reward!

We had about 8 cars participate and considering that the day only had about 40-50 cars that was a pretty good slice of the pie!

Why didn't I ever see this post? It may have lit a fire under my ass to get my car finished before the end of summer.

Next year, I'll be the only 240SX out there acting like a Miata. Low power, skinny rubber by 240SX standards, gearing limited, forced to make my momentum count.

Then we can be head to head!

Sounds good to me. I'm looking forward to at least one track day a month, and hopefully more.

You guys have A LOT of events planned next year. Between ES and SV, I'll be able to get in plenty of practice before the 2015 RTA season.

motor builds should be open for as long as it remains NA. I'm down to do some track time next year and build an KA24DE, HC, ITBs, Honda ECU conversion.

We are allowing built NA motors!

Yeah, REALISTICALLY there are hardly any ACTUALLY BUILT N/A KA's (or SR's) out there anyways. No point in making super strict rules.

Good time to bring it back from the dead. Ill be running this season. s13 coupe just your bolt on intake header exhaust. Install cams and a tune mid season.

This is great!!! You should have a class for a stock NA 240sx's maybe allow like a intake and cat back, brake pads and tires to be upgraded, but keep the original tire size. Than do another class with like a certain power limit and another class that is unlimited all out NA with no restrictions on anything. Maybe throw in some SR20's in there. Cause I'd love to track my 390Whp S13 with an S14 SR in it. And bring my NA 240 for the other events. It would be cool as heck to participate in couple events in same day. I did some TimeAttack before and this kind of sounds like it. Go for it man!!!!!!!!!!!! Give us somewhere to race. I'm tired of not being able to have a lot of options for racing. You can even do like a GT class. Where all you have to do is use a certain engine and everything is unlimited.

I'm confused, this is the North American series, yet it only takes place in CA? ...you guys worried about us East Coast guys or what? ;P Hahah just razin. Looks fun.

I wish we had the coin to travel around. Still trying to get the 240s to come out.

J/k. Sounds like a good way to get people on track to do something competitive without breaking the bank. I'd be happy to build something, but like codyace I'm on the wrong coast haha.

Big willow rain and then track dried up these are best times.
So some times i have readily available.

the 240s I ran my 240 but without timing since i was helping at the event.

Thanks, that stroked me ego a bit! LOL! Exact same conditions I ran a 1:41 on the 1st gen RT615's, next year (same conditions) I ran a 1:38 on some old RA1's. Both times with a stock KA.

I miss the track, all I have left is "paper racing"...

Yeah, I miss it. Unfortunately my family has to take priority over going to the track to play...

I'm hoping to make it out to an event before I move to AZ at the end of the school year. We'll see... If I do I'll make sure it's one of these events though!

just found this thread but im down with a couple 240sx guys i know.

Are you out in New York. Sadly this is currently just a west coast event.

Well luckily I'll be moving to San Diego on a few months.

Ahhh YEAH!!!! Come out. The z's are out in force but the s chassis are holding their own. Would love to have more 240sx out.

The good news is that I'm down for 2016.

The bad news is that my cage and safety gear are going to tap me out for 2015.

If I have a banner year and manage to get out the 20 or so cars I want to, you might see me on track toward the end of 2015.

No. You will be placed in appropriate class.
