**DIY** How to perform a distributor adjustment service on a '91-'92 240SX
 

What's going on guys,

I've adjusted the distributor on my 240 so I'd like to share the adjustment procedure with you guys :coold: The adjustment service consists of inspection of the distributor cap, rotor, and ignition wires, replacing when necessary. In addition, the reluctor air gap should be check periodically:

1) The distributor cap is held on by 2 spring clips. (refer to this 240 diagram if you have to) Release them with a screwdriver and lift the cap straight up and off, with the wires attached.

2) Remove the rotor retaining screw. Pull the rotor head (not the spoked reluctor) straight up to remove it.

3) Rotate the engine until a reluctor spoke is aligned with the stator. Bump the engine around with the starter or turn it with a wrench on the crankshaft pulley bolt for this correct position. Check the reluctor air gap by using a non-magnetic feeler gauge.

4) Measure the air gap between the reluctor and stator. If not within specifications 0.012-0.020 in. (0.30-0.50mm), loosen stator retaining screws and adjust. Always properly center stator and reluctor assembly before tightening after adjustment procedure.
