The Retarded VQ35HR R32 SKyRine build

Purpose of the build:

Background about the car:
I got this car off [email protected] last june. It arrived last week and works started right away. Car was tune by Signal Auto in Japan with decent amount of mods, However, I am not planning to keep anything beside the shell. I will open up a for sale thread once I get the parts off.

UPDATE #1

This is the first update of the car. I have spend a few days removing my interior and my front end. Overall a pretty easy job so there are not much to write about it.

I am looking to keep the weight down as much as possible but still keeping the A/C and other electronic features. How can you go fast you are not driving comfortably?????

Things I am going to do for the interior:
- Stripped sound deadening
- Stripped rear seats
- Fully seam welded
- 16pt weld in cage
- Redo Dash wirings
- Redo Dashboard

Parts That I just received or collected:
- Vented CF hood
- CF trunk
- PS duce Bodykit
- Aragosta coilover
- SPL tension rod
- SPL traction rod
- SPL rear upper control arms
- SPL rear toe arms
- S13 non-hicas subframe
- K-sport Hydraulic handbrakes
- Takata 4pt long harness
- Takata Shoud pads
- Apexi EVC
- Razo Padels (yes you can stop laughing now)
- Work VS-KF 18x9.5 18x11

I am not going to take pic for everything since some of them are in the storage.

Look What I found under the car...lol

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/P1000163.jpg
Front end removed and sold to Joecrack.

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/P1000164.jpg
Attempt for front bumper install...Failed. Intercooler is in the way.

As much as everyone thinks stock/Nismo GTR looks the best. I don't really give a fuxk. Body kit> stock body. :spin::spin:

UPDATE # 2

Thanks for the works guys. Everyone is entitle to their opinion but calling my car riced out pieces of **** covered with plastic to make it look low is just too much.

For the suspension component I chose, i wouldn't say its rice out pos. It is almost better than 95% of the suspension set up here.

This is my inspiration if any one is interested.

ATTKD R32 GTR time attack car. Riced out?? maybe....Functional?? HELL ******* YEA!!!!

UPDATE #4
Now..time for MOAR update:

I just rented a place from OZ design/Fortress Fab so now I have a place to work on my cars and store my parts.

Shxt load of parts I got from Feast and my hongkong trip.

Powder coated subframe and front suspension hub assembly.
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_6462.jpg

Engine bay is all somewhat clean and ready for paint. It is limited resources that we have so please bear with me. I am not going to build a show car so I am trying my best with whatever I have. Since the car is not moveable so I didn't disconnect the A/C. I will try my best to have all the spot covered.

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_6476.jpg
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_6479.jpg

And since the car is not movable, I can't take it to a paint booth. LOL.. It is hella ghetto but w/e. It looks better than before.

Here is what I've been doing for the pass couple months. More to come after I upload the photos.

Here is my rear suspension set up.
S13 non-hicas subframe
Bings Solid subframe bushings

Ebrakes and hubs installed
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_1951.jpg

Here is the front suspension set up.
R32 GTS cross member
R32 GTS power steering rack
Nismo Rear Lower control arms
SPL Tension rod
Feast Auto SPL Front upper control arms
Custom steering knuckle

Powder coated!!
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_7196.jpg

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_7200.jpg

And I realize I can't use GTS crossmember on a GTR so here we go on the modification. The picture will explain it all. After the modification of the frame rail, the caster should increase a little help helping the steering return.

Steel Plate:
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_7045.jpg

Semi finished product.
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_7054.jpg

3/4" steel tube go through the whole rail to reinforced the mounting point so the top of the rail doesn't collapse when I tighten it.

Brakes set up arrived to my supplier. Pic taken before it's way to Canada:

And some wheels for the massive brakes.

X Door Bars

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/P1020436.jpg
Main loop with harness bar. I have the main loop placed on the back seat so I
have more room in the front and I can keep my OEM seat beat.

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/P1020437.jpg
Lowered Passenger door bars so my girlfriend can get in and out easier.

All works are done by Chris Scremin at Fortress Fabrication. Thanks Again Chris.

Body Parts Contain the following.
PS duce Type I front bumper
PS duce Type I side skirt
Stock rear bumper
Custom Rear diffuser (not installed yet)
Vent CF hood
CF trunk (not installed yet)
25mm Custom vented widefenders (no..they are not D-max)
GTR grill

I put the Greddy Intercooler and Rebar back it and Kinda mounted the headlight.
It still needs more trimming as the bumper is still pushing against the intercooler so I have a gap between the fender and bumper.
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/P1020455.jpg

Fortress Fabrication Steering Knuckle. 25mm GTS vented widefender custom from Japan.

Fail wheel fitment because there is no brake rotors inside.
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/P1020452.jpg

The front still needs alot of lowering. More work needs to be done to the pinch weld and upper frame rail.
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/P1020448.jpg

Door doesn't close properly because of the GTS side skirt.

C-unit 10-04-2010 07:18 PM

Long time no upates.

I was in hongkong for the past couple weeks so I don't have much time working on my car. Now it's summer and I have no school..I should have more updates for you guys!!

I just installed my brakes the other day.
Brembo monoblock 6pot caliper
380mm 2pcs cross drilled rotors

Brembo monoblock 4pot caliper
345mm 2pcs cross drilled rotors

Unfortunately, my front SSR professor SP1 will not fit the brakes so I will have to sell the front. I am going with a set of TE37 SL now!

http://blog.kamispeed.com/wp-content...volkte37sl.jpg

Here is some photo after the install:
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_9464.jpg

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_9453.jpg
It doesn't look that big in the picture but they are massive in real life.

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_9457.jpg
Rear

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_9469.jpg
Rear needs a 10mm spacer to clear the caliper

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_9471.jpg

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_9460.jpg
Rear wheels fit so I will keep them for drift spares. They are 18x11 -1 and a 15mm spacer. Stock body GTR.

C-unit 10-04-2010 07:19 PM

Sunny day today so I decided to work on my car.

I just got more update regarding the engine. The "GUY" said he wasn't scam me and my shipping company lied to me. I will have my shipper go there again to pick it up so hopefully everything will turn out the way it should be. I also bought a VQ37 short block since I thought the first guy will fxxk me over. Now I am probably going with a VQ35HR head with the VQ37 block for the extra displacement.

Good weather so I painted the cage. Silver/aluminum finish.
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_0329.jpg

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_0330.jpg

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_0332.jpg

And since my CF trunk doesn't really close and I am sick of using tape to hold it down..I bought some tool box latches.
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_0340.jpg

20mins of measuring and drilling.
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_0345.jpg

And WTF..
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_0347.jpg

I hate CF trunk...What should I so to fix this.
I also bought a set of bottom mount aerocatch but I fail on install it. I gave up after I mounted the two pins. I'll finish it tomorrow.
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_0352.jpg

Since the cage was painted and now dry, I put the carpet back on with the cut out for the cage.

Freakin' nice! This looks like the beginning of a VERY quality build. Looking forward to seeing more.

C-unit 10-04-2010 07:26 PM

Now..Time to move on to the power plant:

I got this VQ335HR off a 2007 350z
Reason why I went with the VQ
- more displacement
- lighter
- 6psd
- better weight distrution
- more reliable
- smoother power band

I am sure alot of the guys will argue about vq vs rb26 but I think nissan did a wise judgement on moving onto a v6 from an I-6.

niSm095 10-04-2010 08:49 PM

all sorts of cool here..

DJPimpFlex 10-04-2010 08:54 PM

Are you running 2 ebrakes? I saw a Ksport one in your parts pic yet you have the drums still installed. Not a bad set up for a street/track car so you can still have a real ebrake on the street, just wondering.

Time attack or drifting? Those brakes are OVERKILL for drifting but they are super baller.

cheesyriceo4 10-04-2010 09:14 PM

omfg. Call me inexperienced but the brake fitment on the TE37's are the best I've seen. Can we get a full car shot with them on please?
