anyone got a 1st gen toyota tundra? i need help
 

So someone decided to leave the radio on all day *thanks mom's bf*, and drained the battery,.. so we go out to open the hood, and the safety latch rod must have separated from the lever at the top in the hood/grill. Any suggestions to get the hood open?

The inside latch cable is all fine, its just the safety latch that we cant get open. This is a 03 tundra
by the way.

I can squeeze my hand up between the grill and bumper and feel around but im not sure what to feel for if theres anything i can push or pull with my fingers.
