chain guards and valve cover cracks
 

Already removed the top guard on the timing chain under the valve cover. wanted to ask if i need to take out the second one also? and i know if i need to than im probably going to fix up the chain adjuster to make sure its working properly.

second question is that under my valve cover i have like hairline fractures in one or two places. wanted to know if i should replace it or not?

this on an SR? if so the 'cracks' are pretty normal and are just casting marks.

why are you taking the chain guides off?

Yeah, engine would help here. If its a KA, the only thing you need on the upper timing chain is the tensioner. Pics would also help.
