Checking out the main bearing clearance, it's pretty much perfect at .0015-.0018", and the rods are at .0024" which is mint as well. Measured with a proper bore gauge.

Here's some of the detail work that I do to my bottom ends. Basically smoothing out casting flash, breaking sharp edges, Smoothing out oil drains and feeds, etc.

It's a ninety degree cross drilled passage that has to see a bunch of turbulence. https://i.imgur.com/omOeAkYh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Nd5Hei3h.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ZSl3KwOh.jpg Just cleaned up some more flash in the water pump area. https://i.imgur.com/dqqQys4h.jpg https://i.imgur.com/wFad1xnh.jpg |
Also, SR20 blocks have these weird plugged, unused passages that run to the sump. I may try and simplify my catch can setup by using the top fitting as a drain. I gotta knock that aluminum plug out so I can use the factory crankcase vent, but I think I can re-route the PCV system so in vacuum/cruise it takes the proper path of through the air intake, down into the sump, up through the timing cover and out the valve cover. Kinda nice for detail people like me hah.

Just learned from a very reputable SR20 builder that my main clearances are much too tight. Guess I'll order up those .001" extra clearance bearings hah.
|
Its funny. When you posted the mains and rods, I had to go look them as they did seem too tight. Especially if you want to put some big turbo heat into them.
Good catch! |
Kinda weird on the crank to big for squirters

A friend of mine let me thrash his NA KA car a few weekends ago. It was fun sending this thing in third.

Got the THL crossmember in.
https://i.imgur.com/kySNbm8h.jpg Got the GKtech one-piece arms in, the car back on the ground, and got it to a more proper ride height. https://i.imgur.com/EytJF8Eh.jpg Still need to install these and a hundred other things. https://i.imgur.com/EHvZUluh.jpg |
Everything looks good. I wouldn’t omit the piston squirters if I were you. On the oil drain holes, did you just chamfer the hole instead of having a 90* edge? I’ve contemplated doing some of these things on my “big power” build.

A bigger update later this week. |
I've been taking a little break from this for the Holidays, but here's an update:
|
|
Anyone interested in an old-school style writeup on the SR20 wiring harness build? Obviously I'm doing a video about the whole thing, but I can take pictures and do a writeup if people think that would be beneficial for the forum. I'm going to be building the harness to be future proof so it would include some extra sensor provisions and all the things to run the VVL system for a VE head conversion.
Updates on the car coming soon. |

Is that you with the very manly beard and high quality branded flannel shirt? Very nice!
I would be interested in seeing your process on the wiring harness build! I may have missed it but you aren't doing anything with those VG33's anymore, huh? |

I'm still kind of undecided on what engine is going in the orange car (That I really, really don't want to be orange anymore). |

Finishing up the nitty gritty of planning out this harness. A few more big decisions to make and then it's mockup time for the ECU to firewall. https://i.imgur.com/yv2gom5h.jpg https://i.imgur.com/lwkCpyXh.jpg |
As an ecumaster user, I share that sentiment.....

I've made a few mistakes on this car in the rush to get it ready for last season. I'll show ya'll some of them this week, including what not to do on a rear subframe and why you don't want to try running one-peice S14 FLCA on an S13... :duh::duh::duh: |
This is the kinda shit I?m talking about.

what caused the subframe to split like that ,that's very disturbing
|
Looks like some jackass shoved the aluminum bushings into the housing misaligned, fucked it, and carried on
|
It's my fault guys, although it wasn't your typical install. Video will be up in a couple hours with all the mistakes I made on this thing haha. Luckily it is salvageable, but I'm going to be refreshing my spare subframe with a few new twists to replace this thing for now.
|
It's here:
|
Now I feel bad for calling you a jackass as I actually respect your builds lol
P.S the surface rust on the rear rotor matches your beard color hahahaha! |

Hahaha indeed it does, especially under that 6k LED! :l101: |
It?s okay guys, I never want to watch other people?s vlogs either 🤣.
