built NA sohc start up
 

hey whats up everyone iv got some issues im trying to address about atart up iv recently finished my sohc build got it dropped in the car wired everything up all the lights work properly minus the flip-ups and the starter itself it makes a clicking noise when i try to start it kinda seems like it may be a bad ground or a bad starter, im ruling out the bad starter theory thou due to the fact its brand spankin new anyway heres my question does anyone know if the switch on the clutch needs to be engauged (hence clutch pushed in) in order to start or should it start without so long as its in neutral? and also should the flip up lights work properly without the flip up button on the dash or is that button mandatory?

Was it ever a auto? The switch might still be on wrong location. Sounds like the battery though, on S13s the ignition switch tends to mess up so you can look into that.
