Stumped. S13 clutch pedal sometimes half sticking to the floor
 

Got a new S13 and finally got it running and driving. Went ahead and bought a new Clutch MC and slave cylinder (auto zone reman) which I have had good luck with in the past, and am using some cheap aftermarket -AN auto conversion/full length clutch line that came with the car, OEM SR clutch, and standard S13 pedal...

SOMETIMES the clutch pedal sticks halfway to the floor. I'd say 50% of the time. I can still shift the car and it disengages the clutch but just does not some all the way back up. This happens when it is in neutral with the car on and off and it also happens while driving down the road.

I have bled the shit out of the system. And yes I have had many a 240 and done more clutch jobs and system bleeds than I can count which have all been perfectly fine... hence why I am stumped on this one.

Did you happen to add any grease to the mechanical portion? Whether down on the slave, or clutch pedal into the master. Sometimes, the grease can behave differently over temperature (thicken, etc) and cause things to stick. It could be grease on the throwout bearing inside the trans also. I'd start there, if it has already been bled properly of course.

This happened on my s14 years ago when I had the motor swapped and turned out to be the clutch line.

Yes I greased where the actuator pin sticks out and pushes the fork, I have not pulled the trans yet as its obviously not fun, however I may have to do that soon if the line does not fix it.

Interesting. I was thinking that had to be it since everything else was new. Must be sucking air in right by the slave. It came with one of those standard cheapo aftermarket ISIS style lines, using I'm sure the highest of quality corroded china -AN fittings haha. Thanks for the experience sir! I shall make myself a new clutch line.

did you delete that stock clutch line box thingy under the passenger side?

Yes, it has a straight line from the CMC to the slave. I believe the line is bad. Thankfully I make these haha

UPDATE: ended up being a bad clutch master. The drain/spring retention screw on the bottom with the O-ring was bad, showed no signs from the outside. Replaced it and the clutch works great. I guess my good luck streak of cheapo AutoZone reman parts finally caught up with me!
