There are nuclear testing bans underground, above ground, under water and in space.

This has been known for a while.
I am a strong supporter of space exploration, however I am not really a fan of creating a crater on the moon, no matter how big/small.
If they did this to the moons of any other planet in our solar system it would not really bother me, but this is our moon that belongs to Earth and we have to live with it. I know this will be a harmless procedure, but I guess it is mostly a principle of the thing for me.
I think it would be cool to build a space station/Futurama-style theme park on there, just not blow up craters in it. I would rather have them add to the moon than subtract from it. Although I know the excuse behind doing this is that it is necessary if they want to possibly build a space station on there someday.
