A million S14 questions.
 

I am (unfortunately) from the Mazda world I'm looking at picking up a S14 for a new project. I'm very interested in the potential of these cars.

1) I want the RB26. Single or twin? Is it a tough fit? Are the mounting locations similar? With the tranny usually being AWD, is it easy to make a RWD conversion but with a stronger gear set (maybe a z32)?

2) Are there any fatal faults in the cars? Anything SPECIFIC I should look for when I'm buying?

3) With a forged rebuild, how many pounds would I be able to run and what power level should I expect? Same question for BPU.

4) Which has more potential; SR20DET or RB26DET?

5) Any common steps to increasing power (i.e. intake and exhaust, then EMS and fuel system, etc.)?

6) How do they hold up as daily drivers?

Single/Twin, up to you. Most people go single. Different mounting altogether, you would need to get motor/trans mounts either by McKinney, or custom, or i think some body else might carry them. Zerolift? You would need RB25 RWD transmission to mate to the motor for it to work.

#4 - seriously?? i'm not even going to bother. if you need to ask that question, you shouldn't be here. use some common sense! - yes this is a valid answer. if you know about RB26, you would know that it's a 6 cyl, vs SR20, a 4 cyl...

Hope you have really deeeeeeep pockets. Either that or you have lots of patience and fabrication skills. Rb26 swaps are one of the more complicated swaps out there and is the most expensive. You'd be looking at $10k easy, even when you do it yourself. Engine set alone w/ an rb25 rwd tranny could set you back as much as half of that.

1) Do a sequential setup, K-5 Blitz twin turbo with a supercharger setup

2) Make sure it doesn't have a KA24 in it

3) OVER 9,000 PSI and HP

4) Gallo 12

5) Stock turbo's will hold 25psi

6) They totally suck Japan never intended for these engines to be Daily Driven or driven long distances
