Damn, I just took my stock 91 in today and i passed. I was so happy! Gross polluter... fuck I didnt know they can put that shiet on there. I would think it would say failed and thats it.

i made the mistake of buying a used cat from some one on this forum but im buying a new one to make sure

Run some sea foam through the vacuum line, clean the AIV, check your air filter replace if dirty. Make sure you warm up the cat, drive it at least 30 minutes before smoging.

It has a new air filter i think im gonna do the sea foam and one more thing lol i drove it for more than 30 mins and my damn heat gauge went sky high i had to turn my heater on and it went back down i dont know if my car overheated due to the weather rite now or my car is just F*Cked.

can anyone else help

you don't need seafoam. What you do need to do, is open your intake at the throttle body and spray carburetor cleaner in as it runs. This will clean out your whole emission setup. Next thing is check your timing and make sure its correct and even retard it some.Replace spark plugs, cap and rotor, if need be. Also make sure your EGR valve is functioning. You can do this by holding your finger on the underside and revving the engine. If it works it the diaphragm will pull up. Also definitely get a good cat and run the engine at 2800 rpm for like 10 mins straight prior to putting it on the rollers to heat the cat up.
If your o2 sensor was bad you would be throwing a code.

I just took in a a higher mileage 89 that had failed and gross polluted 3 years ago and sat since then. I got it to pass flying colors running real clean. I pretty much did all of the above to do it.

I just had the same numbers as you when I got smogged 2 weeks ago, my NOX was gross polluter levels. In my case my EGR wasn't opening. Get a vacuum tester and see if your EGR opens, it should kill the engine at around 5 psi. If it's working, try bypassing the EGR BPT valve.

Bypass the EGR BPT valve by either using a vacuum line connector or replacing the two short hoses with one long one, as shown by the red line.

This is the ONLY thing I did to get it to pass and it brought both my NOx and my CO down considerably, and the car passed with flying colors. The car WILL run a tad rough at low throttle during acceleration, but it's hardly noticable, just a slight miss now and then. WOT and Idle are unaffected, because the EGR solenoid valve is not open. Cruise is also not affected.

pwell i had to change my bpt hose about 2 weeks ago so i know for a fact my egr is working i think i gotta get a new o2 sensor i think its the original that came with the car when it first came out so im gettin o2 sensor plugs wires and cap and rotor and changing that vacum line you said to sorry for my crappy grammar

The only emissions thing left on my car is my cat. I passed fine. All I did to pass was drive my car until I had about 1/4 tank of gas left, and add 3 bottles of IsoHeet or whatever it's called. It's fuel antifreeze, I got it at Wal Mart and it was in a red bottle. I think all it really is, is isopropyl alcohol, which I was told will burn cleaner than gasoline. Then I drove my car pretty hard on the way to the emissions place, and gave it to them and it passed fine.

This is what my car is:
1993 KA24DE with 180,000 miles.
-no intake butterflies
-no egr, the entire valve is gone, and the port is covered with a blockoff plate.
-no charcoal canister
-no PAIR valve
-my only vacuum lines are brake booster and fuel rail
-stock exhaust with a huge leak.

Anyways, maybe it could help you out. I'm not sure how strict Utah's laws are compared to other states, but I was happy with my results.

aw man, i tried this method, i was hoping it worked, but i guess i must've done something wrong, just got back from the smog station, this is my second time already and i failed again. the first time my Nox was just too high, failed 15mph by like 750 and failed the 25mph by like 350. my car is a 95 s14 with about 104k miles, and it's bone stock. this time i don't know what numbers i got though, cuz the smog guy didn't give me my paper. i thought he was suppose to give it to me, but since he didn't charge me for it, i guess he didn't want me to show it to you guys, lol. probably knew i was going to ask you guys for help. i give up, imma just let him do it now. when i failed the first time i check the egr, the diaphram lifted, it seemed ok, check the bpt, it seemed fine too, checked all the lines, they seem good, actually got the egr canister control valve out and checked it, it worked too. so im stuck, and frustrated.

:wackit: Okay, do this for $12 and you will not have a fail again. Go get a thing of seafoam, Fuel injector cleaner, and a thing of throttle body cleaner. Now with the car OFF, open up the trottle body and then grab a q-tip or preferably a throttle body cleaning tool (looks like a big ass Q-tip). There is going to be a mass amount of carbon build up in the Intake Mani and the Throttle body so spray some TBC onto the Throttle body and scrub it up with the Qtip and repeat.... Pour the Injector cleaner into the gas tank and do whatever it is that you do with the seafoam (I say this because I have a tube that hooks directly up to the vacuum line, so not sure how else to ue seafoam). Once the trottle body and Intake are as clean as you can get them. Start her up! She is going to start insanly hard... if she wont start at all just hold open the throttle body for a minute or two... Then try again. Once you get her started give her gas. She will smoke probably in your case ALOT!!!! Let her run with you for awhile and maybe hold her at 2k - 3k. After abot 10 - 20 min. She will be ready to test! If you have any Q's just PM me. :wavey:

when my county still had emissions, i failed a roller test... after fucking with it for a couple days and failing several more times, i finally just unplugged one of the injectors and let them do the test on three cylinders. passed with flying colors.

No, you should be fine. If you do fail the first time just disconnect a injector.
