New Z33 owner w/questions.
 

Hello all, I just recently bought a 2003 350z Track trim and sold my old 240sx.

I just wanted to ask a few questions about this particular Z car.

-Are the Track rims considered, "Volks Racing" RAYS rims?
-Does anyone have aftermarket springs they would recommend? Should I stay stock?
-And what's the deal with wheels spacers? Is it redundant to have spacers with stock rims? I just hate how far the wheels are sunk in under the car. If I should get them for aesthetics whats a good size to run?
-I have some pesky stickers stuck on the rear quarter window that the previous owner had put there. Is it plastic or glass? I don't want to take a razor blade to the surface to get it off until i know. They are REALLY on there unfortunately.

Dont waste your $$$$ on spacers for stock wheels,
Yes,qtr window is glass
Dont wast $$$ on springs,save & get coilovers
Yes wheels are "rays" for what its worth.......

I decided to do just that, was wondering what are good $900-$1,300 choices.

i got stance coilover and i love them ......i had eibach sportline springs before i got coilover and i loved the way they rode i just wanted to go lower ...if ur intrested im selling my old lowering springs =)

ya i actually saw that, but i want coilovers, maybe if the springs were dirtcheap.

My buddy has stance gr+ with swift springs on it the ride is awesome and they handle amazingly for sure.

so I'm running into my first problem, figured I'd just use my same thread.

I'm having a starting issue now. The car wont crank, it's a manual. I believe I've heard it can be the clutch sensor? Or some anti-theft immobilization feature?

Can anyone shed some light on the issue, hopefully with personal experience.

When I turn the car on all the lights turn on. But even with the clutch mashed to the floor and the ignition fully turned it wont start.

Some of the lights will turn off (as intended correct?) as if the car is getting ready to start. But nothing, not a single noise the car just sits motionless. Eventually it will start after fiddling with it for a minute or so with absolutley no difficulties. When the car is running the amp meter reads ~15 volts.

I'll make sure I have no loose terminals when I get home tonight, but i was hoping for some good advice for when I find out that's not the problem lol.

Your saying is it wont crank at all,or does it crank and click,if it doesnt crank,and ur lights turn off as you turn the key to start,then it should be that clutch start switch you spoke off,getting off the car,making sure car is in neutral,push the button with one of your fingers and turn the key to start,should work,or u have to keep pressing the clutch hard against the firewall a few times,im having same issue with an 05

^ weird never had that problem on my 04. You should join my350z.com if you haven't already.. tons of info on there.

Sound like you guys have an issue with the clutch switch,just replace it.

BTW i have an 04 touring

my350z.com is kinda wack IMHO, but yes there is some good info to be had there.

Yea I have 150k on original motor,vq's are very reliable,i ll definantly have to replace my clutch switch

NISSAN FACTORY OEM MANUAL TRANSMISSION MT CLUTCH PEDAL SWITCH - 350Z G35 its only $15 new, ima get it tomorrow.seems like its a common issue. or you could bypass the switch, but I like to keep it OEM style

awesome man, i'm pretty sure its my problem too.

the other day it did it again so i was able to test out the way you said, and when i held the button it started right up.

is it as easy to install as it looks? just plug and go? someone on nico was saying they paid $200 to have theirs installed at nissan wtf? lol :mepoke:

$200???? WOW , took about 2 mins to install, its just the one nut you have to loosen, I dont remember if you have to turn the nut to the left or right to loosen it because you might or might not be on the opposite side of the thread,(so keep that in mind if you cant get it loose).. ..after its loose, just unclip the connector, then turn the old switch out till it comes out, insert new switch, before you tighten the new nut, make sure your pedal touches the new switch and pushes the rod all the way down, then tighten the nut and connect the connector.
I was thinking of just adjusting the old switch so it can come out more, but i was just thinking, if thats the lenght that was set it from factory, i shouldnt have to adjust it it to get it to work, but i still kept the old switch as a backup.....just look at the link i posted to the new switch it has a pic, and you ll understand completely how to remove it, it super easy

Congrats, on your new buy. I think you choose the best version which is the track edition. Comes with brembo brakes and the rays wheels. Good find!

Nice Z I also have a track edition Z.

Here are a couple insights that may or may not help you out.

those stock Rays wheels are pretty valuable since they are super light and guys that do autoX and the 240 guys want them.

Save some more money and get a really good set of coilovers. I bought a slightly used set of KW V3's for $1,500 and they will blow away any of those chinese made coilovers like bc, d2, megan, etc...

Sway bars make a noticeable difference on these cars.

I dont like running spacers on any of my cars but yes using them on your stock wheels will help make the car look a lot more agressive.

Why would you bump a mad old thread? Read dates.

Can you tell me the color of the wires on the connector, I took both switches off and for the life of me can remember which wire goes to what switch. :bash:
