Cars are cool, but I don't go to "meets" for them to be car shows. :D

cars are usually secondary. i like meeting people. especially when they're forum folk so i can finally put a face and a name together. i've been fortunate in meeting a lot of great ppl through this site.

i go to look at the cars, and if people are around the cars im looking at i speak. if there cool ill hang out with them for a lil while, crack some jokes and all that. thats how i like to meet people. i hate to approach some one just to find out there a dick head. so i really dont go to meets just to meet people, but i do like to though. well i guess it goes both ways.

but I'd also have to admit, I sometimes do like seeing the ricers/action/drama (this was at an all make/model type of meet)... which is probably why those Monday meets in Artesia were so popular. haha... if you live in Socal, you know what I'm talking about. Don't deny you liked going haha

if it's our weekly sunday night lake meet i go for the people, but a big meet like a BBQ or nissan meet or somthing I like to check out cars and setups of others.

Id rather see the car first then meet the owner due to the fact that at ceartin meets all I here is a bunch of JACKASSES who think they are the shit and know everything !!! (Yeah I got this and this and this and i um um yeah shut the fuk up) !!!!!

at the local saturday night meet i usually just go to hang out with friends, i avoid talking to the people i dont know, because they all seem to be big dummies

Used to go to the 626 friday night meet like 45 mins drive there every friday for like two years.

Then stupid people showed up and I just stopped going.

I go there to hang out with the people.

I could care less about the cars.

I have always enjoyed meeting the people/artists behind the work. And when I come across a nicely done vehical that is owned by a very respectable Individual, it makes it all the more "zen" for me:D. I have made many long term friendships over the years from attending "Car Meets", Cruze-ins Ect. GOOD PEOPLE, GOOD TIMES!!:rawk:

Anyhow, people are always who I want to talk to, mostly to go "wtf were you smoking?" other times just to complement. I enjoy all kinds of cars.

i usually go to meets to meet people. it's just nice to meet people who share the same passion. if i want to look at cars, i can check the numerous build/picture threads here on zilvia. besides, one can always learn from another. like here in germany, we have some people who are good with suspension, others are good with engines and tuning and so forth.

I don't like most people that are into cars around here... so I go for the cars. I'm not an elitist, but most guys are frigin liars and idiots when it comes to cars, and I am neither so it's frustrating.

all the meets i go to are full of hondas and eclipses. so i usually just sit there wit hmy hood down until some one asks and i only tell them the answer to what they ask. i havent hit up a meet since i got paint i am sure it will draw alot mor attention then my primers sil80. even thought i was the only 240. i am all ways up to meet new people and that is the main reason i do the meets. and even when iam just walking around i flag people over to talk to them.

i go to make new friends/connections networking is always good.

It's nice to be around people who enjoy the same hobby, and I also like to look at nice cars, but at the same time I'm always kind of on my toes watching my car because I really dislike when people touch it or smoke really close to it, or want to lean/sit on it haha. Also, I kind of dislike when people tell me what I should do with my car. There are always some self-proclaimed 240 gurus who act like they're better than you and think that every 240 is supposed to be a race car, and I'm always told about my bad suspension geometry, some can't grasp that I know all that but honestly I just don't care. I just nod my head and wait for them to go talk to someone else.

i like meeting the people. cars are generally the same and there isnt much new that catches my eye, especially in this shithole.

I mainly like standing around in empty parking lots playing pocket pool while looking at everyone's offset.

i like meeting new people, i see car meets as meeting people that could possibly help you out in the future and vice versa with our hobbies. ALSO, it depends on the meeting place because the meeting place could have a place to eat or it could have lots of girls.

meet some new people then hopefully go slide. u can only talk about your car so long before it gets boring. to go meet up w/ the same ppl and same cars is boring unless there something to look forward to.

i am with you there, the people that show up to meets around here are really low lifes for the most part, so i stick with my friends and just hang out.

Too much hassle bringing cars out. Most people have daily drivers so they don't have to take their cars out.

People get too big headed and start acting stupid, then the cops come.

If not that, you get shady people scoping out your car for things they might want to take.

So with that said, I rather meet people at meets.

But sad thing is, there isn't anyone else to know up here in norcal.

I like finding out what some people are really like. A lot of people are completely different on the internet, so it's hard to tell. True personality comes out in person. Makes it easier to deal with people when you know they are just an asshat on the intraweb.

Never been to one but I'd rather bullshit than drool over nice cars.

New fitment, new mods, new people... that seems to be the priority at our meets and I like it, I usually know all the people and all the cars. I love being the only 240 because everyone loves the timeless classic and its nice seeing people with 30k cars drool over your 98 with rpfs haha

I enjoy going mainly to socialize with friends, but if there's some decent cars out, there may be some business to 'attend to', haha.

I normally just go in my 91 Accord, instead of putting miles and burning 93 in the 240. All of us know what each other drive, so we don't have to have it with us in order to hang out and make fun of ricers, etc.

Don't get me wrong metting new people and catchin up with hommies is great but if no one brought their cars and everyone still wanted to "meet" I'm sure half the people would show.

and i know the other 10%, so i'd rather just look at cars

i like going to bbqs and vehicle specific meets to meet other people and i only went to an acura meet but it had to be the best experience ever... the weekly meets i go to for the cars and dramma.... i love to see idiots get their shit taken from them... lqtm!!<---(laughing quietly to myself)

i look at cars then try to meet people who look like they actually know what they are talking about with their cars.

I like to do both to be honest but i really like meeting the people behind the cars. Only the cool people tho, ive gone to some meets were people really piss me off. Commenting on cars VERY negativley...in that case i can care less about THOSE people...

I admit, i see alota gay stuff on cars at meets..but i respect it...

Its funny cause, some of my closest friends, ive met from car meets in the past...only like 2-4 people over the course of the past 6-7 years tho...still awesome IMHO...great way to make new friends :)

i kinda stopped going to the other zilvia meets, cause all the people there seem to be fan boy kids, who only want to talk about their sooped up car, and their blah blah blah, i just go to the west la meet on thursdays cause my other friends go there and it is like a big friendly family. some times 240s actually show up, but most of the time they only stick to the other 240 guys, and well i like to talk to everyone.... oh, and then there are those who like to talk shit about everyone on line(not west la meet people), who really don't know anything except to tell you to use the search on zilvia, who can never be helpful, except when it can only benefit themselves in one form or another, but when you meet them in person, well, lets just say, i don't take your ignorance personally, and i won't whoop your ass for being a dick to me here on zilvia, when i meet you in public .

anyways... this site used to be really helpful, and some members are actually knowledgeable, i just wish that they would help out the new guy a little more... because you may be turning away good people by putting up your tough guy front.

I go for both. I hate it when people leave the lot revving,peeling out,loud music,shooting off their BOVs,etc. Main reason we got kicked out of the first spot. Good vibe, good times most of the time though.

voted for meeting people, because that takes precedence most of the time...However both would have been my true vote.

mostly when i go to car meets.. we talk about future plans on our cars.. but most the people i know.. dont really KNOW cars in general.. they look there own car up on wikipedia and just know every single bolt and spec on the car.. witch isnt bad.. but i mean... i personally like to look up random cars i have intrest in and learn as much as i can.

In Winnipeg we've pretty much all seen each others' cars at some point, so meets are more about meeting the people behind the cars, or just hanging out with friends

Usually when people who don't know me come up to me and start droning on about how they want chrome TenzoR wheels or want to know where they can get wheels like mine for $500 bucks I just tune them out and look for someone I know.

As for the OP question, I avoid meets in general. Everyone at my local meets trys to act like a major badass. And it's usually the hondas or stock EVOs/STis. Nothing wrong with the cars. But nothing to brag about or act like a badass for driving one.

If I went this weekend I guarantee I would see someone in a leased 2.0T Genesis with NOTHING done to it and the guy would just thing he is the bees knees.

Then again I have a stock KA so right now I really don't belong in general. :Owned:
