chassis bracing for stiffness (NO CAGE!)
 

Hey,

Just thought what areas move the most in the chassis and where can I stiffen it most up.

I've already got the front arm (between the caster arms) and subframe brace and welded subframe for stiffness.
and strut brace.

But it moves too much and isn't stiff enough yet.

I see many do the thing behind the front fenders, is it worth it, and what else can i do ?

You didn't mention it, do you have a 3 point strut tower brace that connects to the firewall?

What makes you think the car doesn't feel stiff enough yet? Also, why no cage?

Foam inject the frame rails/pillars

Full leather interior, mint interior, AC and all luxery still intact.
I got the Nismo strut brace.
the car flexes so much that the doors actually doesn't close properly.
Driving home from track on the highway and hitting a hard bump usually makes stuff go back in place, but usually takes 2 weeks of daily with it.

Also we broke a weld under the dash which made a ton of rattle noise!

I can see if I can fit a 3 point past my 20VET (p12 valve covers are quite large :S ) and AC and all that crap!


Any particular areas, strut towers and frame rails ?

And no, I haven't heard of a dedicated track car :D

I'm in the process of stitch welding every single seam of my car. But I think a lot of people just do the strut towers, main frame rail (runs the length of the car front to back) and the firewall seam (behind the engine below the wipers). The more you stitch though the more you will gain. I must warn you its a lot of work! Definately not a weekend project. I've heard that this is almost as good as caging when you add various suspension braces and foam injection. Obviously if you did all of this and caged it would be even better. You might even make a diy nismo power brace it's only $25 bucks in material if you know how to weld.

Welding is no issue, welded so much on it already :-P

I'd be careful with foam injection because it tends to hold moisture and can cause rust.

Thanks for that link that doesnt just link expensive parts that is there because of the name on them.
I will try welding the whole chassis, and Brace where the front fenders are, and I got a power Brace already, but I can always improve it :-) foam injection is going to be turned down as the chassis is nice and is daily driven during summers here in Norway. consider this thread done :-)
