RB tranny on a KA motor?
 

Is it possible to fit a tranny off of a RB20det onto a KA24e motor? Swap bell housing maybe? Thanks for the help.

why would you rb20 tranny are weak as hell there pretty the same thing it would be a waste of money but yes and they just bolt right up

now a rb25 tranny is the way to go and it will also bolt up along with a matching rb clutch so u can run a sweet twinplate and have a real cool smooth shifting tranny if you have a high hp ka-t setup

I just bought a 90 hatch. Tranny is shitty so I just wanted a tranny to make it run until I do a full motor and tranny swap. So will it bolt right up with the same bell housing? I have the bell housing I took off the stock 5 sp tranny.

how is the tranny shitty? did you change the fluid and clutch yet? or are you just saying that with all the dirty shit in there from just buying it?

You gotta also have to remember you will need a new a driveshaft for the trans. But rb25 trans on ka? Works? That's good to know

Tranny is stuck in reverse. Something grinded the shit out of the wall inside the tranny. I dunno how to rebuild and having someone rebuild it is way to expensive.

Now my second question is. Will a shifter from the KA tranny fit into the RB tranny?

yeah u would need a drive shaft and tranny mount

but yeah the rb trans will bolt up to the ka trans like 3-4 bolts line up to the motor to bolt up

i only know cause a friend is doing a rb trans with a twinplate on his high power ka-t

and ka24de and ka24e use the same block so that would not be a issue either

I realize that this post is from 2011 .....I just had a question myself why would you nees to change the drive shaft and another mount if the rb20 and ka trans is pretty much the same ?

What size are the 4 bolts for Rb20det s13 swap the bolts on the bottoms of the mounts to the front cross member?

bump from the dead, can someone confirm the rb25 tranny will bolt upto the ka?

The RB25 transmission does not bolt up to the KA, you would have to make an adapter plate like you would a VG30 Transmission, custom shifter, custom crossmember, etc etc. This thread is super old BTW...
