Z32 caliper trimming
 

I just recently put some z32 rotors and calipers on my s14 and my ?stance? wheels hit the outside edge of the caliper. I know the best solution is to get proper offset wheels but I?d like to make this work. My question is, how much of the middle hump on the caliper can I trim down before I get issues?
The pictures I took are with oem Infiniti wheels so they clear nicely.

Hard no. Walls on these are thin, you don't want to make them any thinner.

Is the use of a small spacer an option? Awhile back I was doing some reading on Brembo's technical side of their website, and they recommend a 3mm minimum clearance on all sides (against the wheel face, and against the barrel of the wheel). Not telling you what to do, just giving out information.

I don?t have the fender clearance for a spacer sadly.

looking at your pictures I really don't see how it's rubbing.

Stated above, I have oem Infiniti wheels on for pictures and they clear nicely

If you trim that area, under hard breaking (track day or say, an emergency), you risk blowing the backing plate off of the pistons. That high hump area is there for rigidity and to reduce flexing during the piston transfer, if you thin that out, the caliper will crack and it will be during a time that you may not have a chance to regret.

Please be safe, be smart, and get spacers or fit the wheel proper. Do not modify the caliper the way you're asking to.

Personally I would run the smallest spacer possible that will make it clear. If you don't have the fender clearance, then I would adjust the alignment and/or tire size. Which is all reversible unlike shaving down the caliper. Just my .02
