How to remove SOHC PCV hose?
 

Hi everyone, I've been searching all day for an answer to this, and even looked in the Chilton manual, shop manual, etc. I replaced my PCV valve today on my SOHC, and naturally the hose broke off. I tried adding a hose coupler and a piece of new hose but the old hose is hard as a rock so you can't tighen a hose clamp onto it to secure the coupler.

So I figured the simplest thing to do is just replace the old crusty hose. Well I can't seem to see where it goes to? Obviously I know it goes to the oil/air separator on the timing cover, but I can't physically see it. Does anyone know to get this hose off without disassembling the entire car? Any help would be much appreciated since I think it is very important to have this hose connected.

Anyone know the easiest way to get that hose off? I keep trying to search for it and no luck.

To answer the question for other people searching for this; if you remove the top bolt for the alternator, take the belt off, swing the alt towards the passenger side, squeeze your hand between the cooling fan and the alt, and use some super long angled 3/4" hose-grip pliers, you can shimmy the old hose off and the new one on.

When I went to loosen the hose clamp on the old hose, the head snapped off the clamp because it was so old. I had to use a big pry bar up against the alternator to pry the hose off. Wasn't a big deal since I had a pry bar, but if I didn't I would have been screwed.
