I'm having an issue with my SR and would like if anyone knows of a good mechanic or shop that knows these motors well...

Only two that come to mind for me is TF and Destruction warehouse

TFWorks and ILLGarage come to mind for SRs. Stay away from RedMist Automotive, the owner outright stole money from me.

TFWorks and RCN Motors are the two who I've had experience with and no complaints.

RC motor sports is good too. I personally don't like ILLgarage ( way overrated and very pricey)

Story? Red Mist has always been brought up, and everybody says they are legit.

I have, along with a bunch of other S-Chassis owners in Illinois. They've done work on a lot of well known cars in the area.

Posted on JDMC and here, Mike has fucked over a couple people as far as cars goes but sounds like I'm the first one he's straight up stole money from.

Yeah a few friends have gotten work from them. they are actually pretty good and fair in pricing. Plus they are known for hooking you up more for the price. you know.

Does that sound get worse as RPMs go up? Sounds like bent valve or a head issue.

I honestly wouldn't fuck with them either. but they have mixed reviews.

I don't know what anyone could have against TF, but I personally love the work they do. Definitely some honest upfront guys their. They usually gave me a few different options (when I would request something) and they would tell me all the price points to allow me to make the best decision. They built my Z from essentially the ground up. TONS of custom work.

^once again. I have my personal 2cents. I have seen some of their work and its sketchy as fuck.

a) pretty sure there's a regional section for this.

b) can we please stop pretending magazine coverage means anything?

c) no shop/builder is infallible, so don't let a couple of bad words detract from on otherwise favorable public opinion, and likewise don't let the hypebeast serve as reputation.

update after tf diagnosed my sr that noise was not in the head it was me developing a rod knock.. shaving bearings in the block so there was shavings everywhere hopefully it can be saved .. currently saving up to drop it back off to have them pull the motor and tear it down possibly rebuild it (again) .. side note they ddnt build it the first time it was a private party i got referred too.... my mistake
