I am looking for a tuner for A'PEXi POWER FC W/ COMMANDER in San Francisco Bay Area. I have a S13 with SR20DET engine.

I called Performance Option in Oakland, but he said the tuner went to LA.

I actually went to BlackTrax - Import & Domestic Tuning - Milpitas, CA.

The previous owner of the car told me the car got tuned by XS engineering in LA already. And Jei from Blacktrax told me that the car was tuned very good already, and he just pull out some fuels in idling.

This is my first turbo car, and Jei from Blacktrax told me that I can't expect to have perfect factory tuning. But I still need to crank 2 to 3 times when I first start the car in cold temperature. Other than that, my car runs fairly well.

I think Blacktrax is pretty honest about their service. Jei only changed me 1 hour of tuning since there is not much to tune. And I do understand that auto shop usually need to charge minimum 1 hr of labor even though they did less than 1 hr of work.

Sorry blacktrax sucks HORRIBLY.... their work on any other car is basically shotty... and they tune on dynapaks... come on .... Junk....

Contact SteveShadows for a base tune... Will drive 10000% times better and cheaper too....

Also there are no good tuners really in the bay area any more

I crank 1 time and it turns on and idles at 1k cause I have bigger cams, but you shouldn't need to crank 2 - 3 times....

You can go into your crank settings and increase fuel...

If you need help, I can help you out.... and probably help you run things smoother, but just get a base map from Steve and that will help a lot too

So there is an option called "crank settings" in the handheld commander?

Sometime, my car would hunt for the rpms (between 1k to 1.4k rpm) when idling. It happens in both cold and warm weather. The handheld commander shows that the ignition timing also fluctuating when idling.

Is that something I need to live with? Or is there a way I can fix it?

I have the almost same set up like yours,but I have gt30r turbo and hks 244/272 stage 2 cam,I only making 336/285 whp and tq.I tuned at Fremont,and I don't think with my set up only make that less hp,but that is mustang dyno,so I plan to go la and find a best tunner to tune it.

I got tuning on Tech 3 at San Jose by Ryant,now I got 380 whp and 332 wht for my daily drive s14.

Any one have heard Frank? who is he? I keep hearing his name mention at performance options. he suppose to be the tuner come up here from LA.

How much did you have to pay to have Frank to tune your car?
They charge me $800 just for Frank to show up, not even touch the car yet. Tuning would be another $400. F that, he aint god.

I take it back, Frank is a supper cool and good tuner. Even though its expensive to get him up here to tune but i guess it better then having headache.

Every penny is worth it with Frank... that's all I can say !!!!

Thanks for the Great comments, well for all of you that don't know me. I owned a shop called Racetune Engineering in Hayward, then moved to Los Angeles and opened up Garage BOSO with Ross Petty. I work with alot of the of the Professional level cars and help out many performance shops.

For all of you that know there are many Standalone systems out there, here is alittle about some of the ones I mostly do.

To all people around bay area who own SR, you should bring your car to Performance Options and have Frank tune it for you. All your problems will be disappear. talk to Big or Joey at PO, dont talk to Eddy cause he aint know shit eventho he's the boss.

Hoping Zilvia friends can help out again with this. I am having a tough time finding someone to tune my SR20DET w/ Power FC. Blacktrax is over book for months, Performance Options no longer tunes. Any other shops that are current?
