FS: 1998 Nissan 240SX LE ****SOLD****

This is an OEM Kouki 240, not a kit or update.

SOLD SOLD SOLD

Here's why:
This car has been referred to as a Unicorn by my car club. It has a combination of features that nobody had ever encountered together in one car before. That included white leather upholstery and wood grain inserts in the dash panels! Unfortunately, the leather didn't survive, but I replaced it with dark blue 2-tone seats out of an S-15! Full set, front and rear. The rear seat latch works, the seat drops for access to the trunk.
Other features include nearly every option on the LE checklist:
    • automatic transmission(!) (rebuilt in 2018)
    • cruise control
    • a/c
    • tilt steering wheel
    • sunroof/moonroof (works!!)
    • headliner console with map light
    • power windows
    • power mirrors
    • remote entry/security system (works!)
    • variable intermittent wipers
    • drilled and slotted brake rotors all around.
    • did I mention the wood grain inserts?
    • Silver Moss green paint. Yes, Silver Moss.

All the running lights, tail/brake lights and dome/map lights have been upgraded to LEDs.
Now the best part: the body is totally straight. Minor dings only in some body panels. The car has never been in an accident, the track is arrow straight. It rides on high-rate springs, which lower the ride height by only 2?. That means that the car will pass inspection for headlight height-above-ground and clearance.
Almost forgot to mention! This car has NISMO strut braces front and rear. Handles like a time-attack car. The car was a daily driver, never raced, never tracked. Other than the springs, it is dead stock
The interior is ~90%. There is a minor tear in the drivers seat left-hand bolster, and the drivers' window sill plastic. There is also a small break in the dash atop the speedometer. However, the headliner is perfect and all interior trim pieces are present and in excellent shape. I even have the ash-tray/storage cubby for the center console!

In the spirit of full disclosure, here are the con's:
The car doesn't run, so you'll need a trailer. It has a head gasket failure @ cylinder #4. This only happened recently: in the last 6 weeks. Until that point, it was reliable as h#ll, and my daily driver.
{Please see this thread for clarification on engine status}

(but you were going to drop a new motor in anyway, weren't you?)
Which brings me to the second point. It's high mileage (but what 240 isn't these days?) 345,000+ on the clock. But, as I said above, the bones are solid, and the body and frame are straight.

Lastly, that Silver Moss paint? The hood is almost completely bare, from clear-coat delamination. And it's spread a little to the tops of the front fenders. There's also a weird patch on the drivers' door. The rest of the paint is smooth and intact.
Finally, the radio doesn't work! Actually, it does, but the speaker wires are faulty, so no sound anyway.

There's no comparison here. This is a $9,500 high mileage shell. Even in the end of times, you're both smoking crack. glws op

As pointed out the last part of the ad broke my heart. This will get sold for sure but you're gonna have to find the right buyer and I'm not sure that is gonna be here, gonna have to drop that price $2500 minimum for that to happen

I'm an old f**k and not up on the current jargon. I have no idea what "glws op" means.

Also, didn't your grandma teach you about "if you can't say something nice...."?

"Good Luck With Sale, Original Poster"

...and I don't think anyone here is being overtly mean. It would be cool if the features you mentioned were largely still intact.

He wants 10k for a shell with 350k miles.
Maybe more was edited out, but that seems like enough of a deal breaker for most.

When it comes to houses and enthusiast cars this past year, no price surprises me anymore.

Can we get some interior pictures?

Are the back seats the stock leather?

Stock wheels available?

racso_dor 03-30-2021 05:22 PM

JDM chassis and USDM chassis are valued differently. Your current asking price is deff on the high side and here is why .. this month on BAT a fuschia kouki with 40k miles, auto, all original and it runs and drives sold for 15k. You have a 98 high mile silver moss that needs body work, paint, drivetrain work, maybe suspension? .. you get it lots of TLC. I know you said OBO (I get it low ballers) ..but if you are willing to cut that price in half, slide in my DMs and let's talk if not cheers to you mate GLWS

There are additional interior shots at the Imgur link, but I can post further images this weekend.
No, the rear seats are blue/blue fabric S-15 seats like the front. More photos @ the Imgur link
No, the stock wheels are long gone.

I went back and looked at the BaT car and it makes it really hard to put a price on this one. I don't know how much it would cost to bring this up to a similar condition...and only 40K miles to boot. This is interesting.

If this car was running i can't imagine it selling for more than 9k. So a non running shell cant be more than like 5k

Whitey13 04-01-2021 06:50 PM

Can you please post the VIN?

SouthpawPL 04-06-2021 09:12 PM

I feel that I need to clarify something: The car does run. the engine starts and the car can be driven. It will overheat and boil over after about 3 miles, but is is not incapacitated.

I don't know how that affects how the car is perceived, but I felt that this needed to be said.

Please let me know if this changes anything.

His description is fair. He's saying it can move under its own power in your driveway. It's not bricked. Stop overreacting.
