Z32 MAF Install SR20DET (Pics)
Well here is my next addition. I have a shitload of parts I have to install, today I tackled the Z32 MAF. Easy right? In and out? Well not exactly so I made sure to document the Issues I had and the fixes. There are more than one way to install. This is myway and it worked:
Items Needed: Z32 MAFS Intake that fits the Z32 MAFS 80MM Grommet 2 80mm Hose Clamps 80MM to 60MM Aluminum Pipe Wire Harness Steel bar for support Electrical Tape Wire Connectors Tools This write up may help. If it does, give me some points please:wavey: **Disconnect your negative Battery Terminal** Okay well getting started, I ran into an immediate problem. The Z32 MAFS intake side did no fit the APEXi Intake I had been usuing with my stock MAFS. Fix was, I bought a new APEXi Intake. I swear by the APEXi, my old one with adapter piping is for sale as well. http://www.b15sentra.net/gallery/fil...4/IMG_2937.jpg Okay to attach the MAFS to the Intake depends on the intake itself..make sure you keep hold of the little rubber gasket ring that goes bewteen the MAFS and the Intake, it sits in a little valley type area on the MAFS. Then use a paper style gasket between the intake and the MAFS and use the 4 screws to secure it nice and tight. Okay now pull out your old MAFS and Intake and you will see the next problem. http://www.b15sentra.net/gallery/fil...4/IMG_2941.jpg The Stock MAFS has an 60mm exit to the stock compressor pipe...your new Z32 MAFS has an 80mm one. I eventually plan on getting a full aluminum pipe made that will go all the way up from the compressor to the intake, but for now I had to improvise cause I hate to stop in the middle of sh1t unless it is for beer or good head from a hottie...so what I did was headed down to the speed shop and bought an 80mm to 60mm reducing pipe and a gromet... http://www.b15sentra.net/gallery/fil...4/IMG_2939.jpg See you can't just use a reducing grommet, becuase the stock compressor piping is rubber if you used a rubber style gromet it would collapse..you need something strong in there that wont collapse. Use two hose clamps and attach the MAFS with installed intake to the Reducing pipe using the grommet. Once your done it should look like this, mine looks like an F15 motor now: http://www.b15sentra.net/gallery/fil...4/IMG_2940.jpg Then put the pipe in. You can slide it down the stock rubber compressor tube and use the stock hode clamp to secure it on the 60mm end of the reducter. Push it in as far as you can, there isnt much room. It will look like this now, and yes I had just enough room... http://www.b15sentra.net/gallery/fil...4/IMG_2942.jpg it is time to cut the harness you are looking at in the picture above....make sure you cut it about 2 cm's from the tip. This way it can still be used again. Then get your wire diagram and wire the stuff up: http://www.b15sentra.net/gallery/fil...4/IMG_2943.jpg Here is the breakdown using the Harness I bought for 20 Bucks.. From Right to Left: White - to White on the stock Harness Black - to Ground on the car Black - to the Black on the Stock harness Red - to the Black and White stripes wire on the Stock Harness Attach all of the wires from the new Z32 Harness to your stock wire cluster...use the direction above. You can either solder the wires (preffered) or do what I did. I just used wire connectors and crimped them together, then wrapped the harness in black tape. I didnt wanna do it permanantly with solder yet since I am going to have an intake pipe made for me later and may have to reduce the harness length. Then you will still have the ground wire to deal with...I extended the ground wire and set it right below my profec motor..but there are plenty of places to ground it at.. http://www.b15sentra.net/gallery/fil...4/IMG_2945.jpg Okay now here is what the finish product will look Like installed...The only thing left to do is reconnect your battery cable and start up. If you have an SAFC II like me, you will have to make an adjustment in the ETC menu prior to startup. Go into ETC, choose Sensor Type, choose HW and In "2" and Out "6":http://www.b15sentra.net/gallery/fil...4/IMG_2947.jpg Next write up is 550's and AEM UEGO wideband install:mephfawk: Late Daryl |

Thanks man...woah your pink:coolugh: |
im still wondering how it needs a write up. I know many people who did it and never had a problem or expierence. I did it myself without even a diagram since Heavy Throttle forgot to send the paper work for the turbo upgrade kit. I did the injectors, Z32, and install all without paperwork.

Congrats!!!!! 1. Everyone is not as cool as you. 2. Some May have questions before they do an install like this. 3. SOme do not want to jack their sh1t up so search to see if someone has done the same install before, this will be there for them in that situation. |
no fat chicks just got served
|
You must not be the smartest person in the world if you cannot install it. Its 4 wires and 4 bolts. Seriously.... darwinism is in effect. Too stupid to install... too stupid to drive. HAHAHAH

NoFatchicks, at only 8 posts in to Zilvia.net, I do not appreciate your attitude or how you choose to treat other members. You are PINKED for 3 months. Hopefully you will learn to get your point across without trying to belittle others. If you don't, your time on Zilvia.net will be cut short.

Really man, it may seem easy to you. Was easy for me. People like pictures and they like to read ahead when installing parts. Everyone is not comfortable with tools. The purpose, well one of the purposes of forums like these are for sharing information and helping each other out. I am a member and moderator of other forums and try and share my knowledge. There was a time 15 years ago or so that I could not change the oil in my own car...those people are still out there. They are learning. A thread like this is not designed for opinions that are negative. I took pics and Typed a whole lot of sh1t to make the write up. I am a Jarhead so typing is not that easy for me. If you don't think the post is worthy move on and Have a nice day.
For all that are interested here is a write up I did on installing some fuel components: #/f/showthread.php?t=94575 I plan on installing a wideband and 550's this weekend, we will see if the weather holds up.. late daryl |
Don't know who's aware of this or has more info, but I was advised that you should look for an orange sticker on the airflow meter. Luckily mine was correct, but I believe it's color coded by engine, orange being VG30DETT. Sorry if it's already known, but I thought it'd be appropriate to post in an install section.

Hey thanks for the step by step install of the MAF. I just picked up an S-AFC today and I was thinking on installing it along with my z32 MAF tomorrow. Your thread just made it alot easier for me. Now I don't have to figure out the cables, thus saving me a lot of time. Since I'm in Japan I'm still trying to figure out two cables from the S-AFC since everything is in Japanese. I can read a little hiragana and Katakana, but not Kanji (three different type of writing in the Japanese Language). Any how, thanks again for your post and don't pay attention to the haters. LOL I'll post pics of my set up once I'm done with it. Peace!

http://www.apexi-usa.com/support_installation.asp and also the wiring diagram for installation here http://www.apexi-usa.com/support_wiring.asp Also there is a forum for all of us car guys on Okinawa, I am Kuramaya on there: http://www.zeroyon.com Just tell them I sent ya! |
I just looked at the diagram in english and it doesn't match the japanese one. The english one says 240sx so am assuming its for a KA application and not SR.
For some reason I went to this site yesterday and couldn't find anything. I downloaded the manual, like 50 pages, and didn't find anything. I think I just need to figure out one more cable and I'll be alright. Thanks again for all the links, I'll try the Oki forum. Thanks bro! |
