SR20 Wont start
 

Hey guys, picked up my S14 today. SR20, t28, lots of good stuff like that.
Anyway after driving it home in a...spirited manner I made a right turn and the car died. I assumed it was the starter(been on its way out anyway) and so just gave the car a shake and it started right up.
Anyway got it home, it died again, tried to start it and noticed some smoke coming from the steering column and a burning smell under the hood, in the trunk, and in the cabin. Smelled like burning wires.
Anyway, any ideas as to what this could be? car wont crank but the headlights turn on, my boost gauge, turbo timer, and radio dont work. Car has the battery relocated to the trunk.
In advance this is my first 240 and I know absolutely nothing about them. help is greatly appreciated

sounds like you have wires touching or your harness is getting rubbed on in the wheel well. your most likely going to have to check all of your wiring.

Shit..I keep blowing ignition fuses, so no idea what the deal is there

Check out the good advice you've already been given? ... this is a very common concern for these cars

You told us in the first post. You made a right hand turn and it died. Also when you turn right the inside edge of the driver tire rubs the wheel well. Which is also where a major wiring harness lies. Fix that and you will be happy.

Its not the fenderwell harness, thats not rubbed through at all

Yes it has

Obviously a wiring issue, if you keep blowing a fuse there is a reason why. Fuses dont just blow repetitively for no reason. multifunction volt meter, a wiring diagram, and someone who knows what they are doing is the next step. With out any of us who knows what we are doing actually being at the car you will just receive a lot of mixed opinions. Take it to a reputable show or friend who actually knows what they are doing.

It all has to do with the battery relocation most likely.

Negative terminal is grounded correctly, do you think I need to just start at the positive and work my way into the bay?

well you've made it pretty clear you have no idea what youre doing.
take the car to a professional.

Yeah just do what he said. don't feel bad. I git my motor in and running but it wont idle so I'm done and letting my buddies at a local shop do it for me.

Yeah my problem now is finding a shop even remotely close to me(valencia ca) and getting the car towed there without spending every dime I have, oh well, ill get this done, thanks for the input yall
