Sr20det Blue-ish smoke from tailpipe???

I got a prob and I'm trying to figure it out? So I'm getting blue-ish tint smoke from the tailpipe (comes out every time I shift or decelerate) and blue tint is usually oil burning. So I went ahead and checked everything that I possibly can do. I did a compression test too and the numbers came out 155psi in all 4 cylinders at operating temp. Is that good or bad??? I also change the PVC, and I'm not running a cat either. It's a stock SR with a FMIC and T28 turbo. So next I checked the turbo to see if it had play and it was to the minimal, and also as the plugs where good too, no carbon whats so ever. IDK I'm alittle lost, I'm thinking the turbo seals are going bad, but LMK what you Foolios think it mite be.

Possibly turbo seals or valve stem seals... Was there any oil in the intake/discharge piping of the turbo? Does it do it under load? Check exhaust side as well, if it's all the time, you may see a darker/oil soaked area.

if it only happens during engine breaking, the intake valve seals are bad. during engine breaking, there is very high vacuum on the intake side of the engine, and oil is getting suck through the bad intake valve stem seals and mixing with the incoming air.

yeah it happens when I speed up then let it engine brake(decelerate), but while I'm accelerating no smoke, its weird!?!, So your talking about checking the hot pipe to the turbo? or???

Not necessarily... Oil seals on turbo could be shot too. Yes, check both sides of the turbo for any signs of leaking oil. You don't have to pull it off the manifold to do this.

it only happens when he uses engine to slow down the car. that is the time when vacuum is really high in the intake side of the engine. does not smoke any other times. bad turbo oil seal will smoke all the time, especially under high rpm when the oil pressure is high.

Ok so I when on a Sunday back road drive in Norcal area I when on King mountain road near San Mateo, and I notice that it only smoked when I was decelerating (engine braking) in high rpm usually around 3grand and plus, so I'm guessing it mite be the valves. So My question is driving in this condition will cause a bigger problem if I keep driving with it like that?:sadwavey:

Could be your turbo going out.

Mine would puff out some smoke during decel on occasion.

Changed turbo's, never had a problem since.

So how did you check the turbo to find out?:ugh:

so my car is doing a similar thing, s13 with redtop sr, t 25 mostly stock fmic, walbro 255, greddy intake manifold, straight piped.
I'm going to look into it more tomorrow but i noticed that my car was blowing out blue smoke which probably is oil. Its using it at a concerning amount like 2 quarts of oil in about 200 miles.

Is there a sure fire way to determine if its valve steam seals or the turbo seals. I'm eager to fix it but jst don't wana fix one and find out it wasn't the problem.

the pressure should slowly leak out

so i did a compresion test the other day and its 120 on cylinder 1 and 145 across the rest, put a little oil in cylinder 1 and it didn't change. So i'm pretty certain it is the valve seals.

There r a few things though i'm not certain on, i checked my ic piping for oil and i had an extremely small amount barley even a drop of oil sitting in the crevases of the piping. It was right after the turbo so its not like theres more sitting anywhere else. A friend of mine told me that even a bit of oil could mean the turbo seals r bad. Anyone know if maybe my turbo seals r also going?

I did burn through about 2 quarts of oil in 200 miles so its burning quick.

I also had a bad injector that was dumping fuel in cylinder 1 that i fixed right before this problem showed. Any chance there related?
