This will make you guys feel better, Im in the Air Force and had to PCS from my Base in Alaska. I owned a house there and was just going to rent it, but the Homeowners Association refused to let me rent so i was forced to sell in this shitty housing market. Cost me 20k out of my own pocket to sell. I had no choice since i was having to pay the mortage (1700) every month and it was sitting empty. Makes me want to throw up when i think about it.

Thats why you talk to housing/legal on post before you sign anything, didn't they look at the contract and/or mortage agreement with you? Always make sure there are military clauses written in for you so you can break contracts/sublease/rent, etc etc etc. But I guess you know by now ;).

First thing I did when I got in the military was erase any debt I had. Now I'm erasing my wife's. Buying a house in the military is stupid unless you're planning not to live in it..

yea i see your point, the housing market in alaska was a boomin when i bought mine, most of the guys leaving were makin a killing off their houses. No one expected the market crash so i never thought twice about buying one. It was a lesson learned and changed the way I will look at buying from now on. No more HOAs for me ever!!!!

Doesn't happen to just military. Friend of mine from high school bought a house after college, he was working for Google at an office in Tempe, AZ. Well, Google decided to close that office and transfer him to the home office. He had to move, but can't afford to sell the house because he is so underwater. Luckily he can rent it out.

Well i had like 10k in credit card debt last year then paid it off and now in like 3 months i'm back up to 8k but will pay it off by late april/may.

I just did a quick total in my head. Between my 5 series, toolbox, student loans and credit line I'm about 20k-ish in debt. I can't remember how much my student loans are exactly. I'm sure they put me over 20k though. That sounds terrible when it's totaled up... I need to quit doing everything and pay that all off LOL! :s101:

Paid off 20k in credit cards in 6 months without selling anything off. Owe 4k on my daily, which I could pay off anytime. No mortgage, no student loans, no kids. Other 2 cars paid off. :werd:

Hopefully, I'll get a raise at work. I need to really buckle down. To pay off all this debt. But I really only had the student loans before Dec of last year. That's when I got the BMW, then the box a month later. And then last month I got the line of credit, in case of emergencies. But I can pay for it all. So in a couple of years I should have baller credit!! :wiggle:

I joined the Military immediately after high school and didn't plan on being in debt. Buuuuuttttt, I was being over payed for a few checks so I owe $+1,000. No car parts for a month or so :(

341k that I owe on my mortgage just paid off my student loan got cahed out for my sti and bought a f150 but put 25k down so another 15 for that so.... 355k
