Imarvin240's SR22VE-T 350z time attack car build
Okay so I want to explain beforehand, why I’m doing the build this way. The build was originally going to be done on my rhd S14.5 but do to a shop screwing me over (selling the parts off the car and sending the rest of the shell to a recycling yard even though they were supposed to be just doing the cage hah) I no longer had that car to build. The reason I had no idea that this was happening, was because back on December 7th 2010, my house burned down which had me a bit distracted from my car. Don't worry, everyone survived! it was just the house that needed to be dealt with. Also, the fire destroyed about 15k in parts that I was going to be placing on the S14.

I went through a long search, looking for a car, but I wanted to build on a chassis that I haven’t built yet. So, I looked for r32, S15, m3 e30, but I ended up finding a well-priced and 100% problem free 350z that I was able to pick up. As for this car build, it is doing to be my modified class time attack car…and maybe see the street on an absolutely perfect day. NO CHEAP PARTS and NO CUT CORNERS will be done on this build. DON'T bother saying any negative comments about the engine/chassis combination. An SR is lighter than a VQ and is able to sit further back/lower in the engine bay giving it a better center of gravity along with a better 50/50 weight distribution. also, this car will not have any power issues (i will show you with some of the future updates) should have plenty of power for the car. I plan to have the car finished within a few years from the start of this thread…since there's a lot of work that needs to be done. one of the big things im trying to do with this build, is to be a bit different then everyone else. im trying to pick parts and do things to the car that most people dont do...that will possibly explain why I'm doing what im doing :) LETS GET STARTED! This is how the car looked the day I got it! http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...psf3d525d1.jpg http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9317c1a9.jpg http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8684b96a.jpg It was also a turbo 350z at the time when i bought it but i sold all of that right when i bought it. http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...ps37a88b45.jpg well, shes jacked up and ready to start getting ripped apart. http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...psbdd09f14.jpg time for the engine setup to come out and go bye bye! (VINs got cut off since we are ripping the tubbing out of the engine bay, will weld VINs back onto the firewall before paint) http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0dfd0706.jpg http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4470d4cc.jpg The Mazworx SR22VE-T is in! A bit more of an update, but its mostly just pics of the parts that have come in for the build.
New Coil Pack cover from Nissan for the P12 Valve Cover http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2919306d.jpg Q45 90mm throttle body...most likely replacing with a billet one...it will look cleaner :) http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...ps32eacfa0.jpg tilton hydrolic release bearing http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6f682cd7.jpg http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...psac3437bf.jpg AEM coils http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1d98ed99.jpg Full Spec Moto splined quick release http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...psd2cbaa86.jpg SR to VG Transmission Conversion Plate http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...ps655a367b.jpg MY FAVORITE PART OF THIS UPDATE JUST BECAUSE OF THE BACK STORY Tomei 2-way differential with a 1.5-way conversion kit the back story to this is that the U.S. branch of Tomei had no idea that they even sold a 1.5-way conversion kit of it so they had to call the Japan branch to ask if they even sold a kit to make it a 1.5-way...turns out they do :) http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...psd2f0a6e3.jpg |

KEEPING IT COOL UPDATE!
so, like i said in the first post, im going for being a bit different witht his build...trying to do things a lot of people don't do. so i decided to go with a liquid to air intercooler setup to be a bit different but to also try it out since i have never personaly tried this type of cooling before. This setup is rated for 1200hp, so im sure it will work fine. heat exchanger (radiator for the intercooler) 26 X 7 X 3.5 Liquid to Air Intercooler 15 X 6.5 X 6 Ice Box (for track days) Bosch Cobra Pump dual fans for the heat exchanger http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...psb8adbabc.jpg Electronic water pump setup (this is replacing the pulley driven pump on the engine...a plate will be placed instead of the original pump) http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...psf80e8fae.jpg http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9ec0bc98.jpg http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...ps22fd5968.jpg Full Spec Moto is currently Custom building a Radiator for the build (pics/specs up when its finished) |

http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...ps03c8c144.jpg What it looks like on the engine http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5639b0b1.jpg http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...ps53070c9d.jpg http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...pscb69e80c.jpg Unfortunatly, the BW EFR 8374 is on extreme back order till who knows when...i ordered it back in April. if its not here by the end of January, I'll probably just switch to the Garret GTX series turbo... :( |
cot damn, keep it up
|
WOW! my favorite engine going into my favorite Z :D
love it! keep it coming man. VE-T's gonna be a fucking blast!!! |
stripping the Z down to nothing this week. Then next week, drilling out hundreds of spot welds to remove the engine tubbing, speaker/storage area behind the seats, and any brackets that aren't needed (glad Vince is willing to help me out with that hah)...then she leaves for Fab work (cage, stitch weld, bracing, motor/trans mounts, unboltable radiator support, bash bars, ect) (may be a break in updates till she gets back from that but hopefully not)
- all the electronics have been ordered through Touge Factory and will hopefully be here in the next couple weeks. - driveline setup has all been ordered through Full Spec Moto. |
more updates please!

The P12 Cams should do the trick. They say, they have a smooth mid-range with lots of top end power too.
That's the route I'm going, at least, for my VET build. :D |
