short shifter install help
 

Whatsup so im installing a short shifter on my s14 ka motor i was told it is a c's replica everything is there besides a new tranny plate so i juat left the stock one on thereand just pulled the actual shifter its self and my new after market has that bracket with the little wings and i cant seem to get both wings to get in the groove of the plate. Can i use the stock plate or does it have to be an after market plate? Also it came with four locking washers are those nescisary cus i might be able to get it on without them. Pls help
