My SR20VET...
Well, I've been building this for the past year or so. I had a built S14 SR but threw a rocker arm, hated life, and went VVL. This is my timeline and progression on the build thus far.
The Specs: Stock P11 head w/ SuperTech DVS and stock cams for now... Mazworx VVL conversion kit including IM My old forged SR20DET bottomend ID1000's Walbro 255 to surge, Bosch 044 from surge to rail GTX3076R My old Peakboost manifold Exedy Twin Disk Intake manifold and Q45 TB... http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/at...up-vvl-007.jpg Huge intake ports... http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/at...up-vvl-008.jpg Super clean valve train w/ Supertech DVS in the highest seat pressure available for high RPM. http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/at...up-vvl-009.jpg Forged bottomend with VVL oil pump bolted up... http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/at...up-vvl-011.jpg BNIB Exedy twin disc I found locally for a killer deal. http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/at...up-huh-088.jpg Manifold mocked up on the head, I figured out here the factory fuse/relay box were going to have to be relocated, oh well... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1308431457 I overlaid my VVL intake gasket on my S14 SR gasket, its amazing how much bigger the ports are. No wonder this head flows so much better. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1308431457 Lot of parts that came in to get the head bolted on to my block... http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/at...up-vvl-003.jpg So I wanted to get the VVL head flowbenched, just to have some figures in hand and verify what I had been seeing on the web... The top numbers are the VE head and the bottom numbers are from a highport SR head. Flow test was done on a completely stock SR20VE head. Machine used was a Superflow 600 test bench at 28" of H20 and low 80's temp. neat! what kind of power are you looking for?
|
nissan should of put these heads on the sr from the start haha
|
Continuing on with the build...
I purchased Tomei adj. cam gears, Mazworx proprietary headstuds and an Apexi HG. http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/at...up-vvl-003.jpg With the parts above I was able to get the head bolted up and cams/gears installed... http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/at...up-yep-142.jpg http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/at...up-yep-144.jpg http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1310325622 I cut the mounting tab off the DET water neck, ground it down and bead blasted it to get it back to a factory texture... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1310325605 I stripped, degreased, bead blasted, and had AN fittings welded to the VC. Then I painted it with Duplicolor paint and cleared it... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1310327863 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1310327863 Somewhere at this point I took the motor up to Mazworx. I wanted a professional shop to set up the cam gears and make sure they were on centerline. While the motor was at Mazworx, I cleaned and organized the garage enough to squeek the car in. Now I could finally start tearing the remaining items out to prep for some repairs and paint. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1310603240 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1312420891 One of the repairs needing attention. Some how rust formed between the pinch weld here. I had to drill out spot welds, remove the damaged metal and reweld in a new piece... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1312420866 After a few weeks the motor was ready to be picked up. Being that I was out of town on business for a few weeks my father picked my motor up for me. Once it was home, I started bolting items back on to it... Exedy, Mazworx trans adapter plate and VC bolted on... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1320623391 Modified waterneck to accept the S14 SR's 1" coolant hose... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1320623289 I mocked up the IM once more for the hell of it... I forgot how huge it was until I bolted it on every time... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1320718989 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1320719001 My turbo finally arrived, so I rushed home after work to slap it on. Obviously it was for mock up purposes only, but it looks pretty sick... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1321060184 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1321060199 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1321060198 Thanks for looking, more to come... |
More....
Like I said in the last post, I cleaned the garage up enough to get the car in to begin the engine bay strip. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1322011825 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1322011746 I recieved my TougeFactory surgetank kit minus the pumps as they were already in my posession. My only gripe with the kit was that the return line that they supplied with the kit wasn't long enough to reach all the way back to the surge tank, so you had to splice in a short piece of pipe. I contacted Jamie over there and explained my concern, he had a piece long enough shipped to my door within a few days time. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1322011773 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1322011786 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1322011811 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1322439295 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1325975888 Incase you missed it, my Walbro 255 will be the lift pump to the surge tank. From the surge tank I'll be using a Bosch 044 and -6an lines to feed 1000cc Injector Dynamic'c injectors. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1325975838 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1325975903 Before I bolted my Z32 trans to the back of my VET I had it rebuilt. It had started to develope the typical 4th gear grind and I didn't feel like having to pull the trans when it finally went. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1322439215 As usual thanks for looking, more to come... |
I actually started the bay strip while it was outside. I removed most items out there simply because there was more room to move around the whole car. Once it was actually in the garage all that remained was the front suspension and crossmember. Once they were removed, I started welding up the holes left when I removed the factory battery tray and the area on the passenger side strut tower. I wasn't looking to plug/patch all the holes in the engine bay, although in hindsight, I should've. I also used holesaws to clearance and make the holes I made for IC pipes truly round.
http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1322439274 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1322439260 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1322439236 Here's the repair needed on the passenger side strut tower... I also removed all seam sealer forward of the rear of the strut towers. I was going to be torn up during the bead blasting and made sanding much easier. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1322439253 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1325975804 I brought home our bead blaster from work to clean any and all surface rust off before I started to body fill areas in the bay where I had welded/ground. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1325975829 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1325975803 3M undercoated the fender wells after I degreased and sanded them down. I went all the way up to the upper frame rails simply because I wanted to. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1325975888 After a shit ton of hours, sanding, body filling and sanding more, I finally got it where I wanted it. It was an huge amount of work. My hands ached for days and at times went numb from the process. I kept telling myself it was going to be worth it in the end.... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1326763199 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1326763199 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1326763210 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1326763225 Once the sanding had ceased, I had to wrap the car in drop cloth for laying down the primer. I wiped the bay down a total of 3 times, making sure I didn't miss any areas that could potentially cause problems. First two times took a total of 3hrs, I called it a night after that. I did a thorough final wipe down right before I sprayed the primer. I hit all the problematic/tight areas first, to make sure they were coated, then I came back and bombed the rest. I am by no means a professional painter, but I have a fair amount of time behind a spray gun. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1326763229 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1326763240 All primed... It turned out pretty damn good for a make shift paint booth in my home garage. It was a great relief seeing the car all one color, it started too actually look like something. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1326763243 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1326763270 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1326763261 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1326763252 As usual, thanks for looking... |

Sr <3 I'm looking forward to this build, definitely following this one .
Props bro. |
The guide coat was probably more of a PITA than actually sanding and prepping for primer. You had to sand a certain way otherwise you get high and low spots from the pressure of your fingers. That and getting into all the tiny areas to make it completely smooth sucked.
http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1327283599 I don't have any pictures of the entire bay completely sanded without seam sealer, but you get the idea... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1327283610 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1327283610 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1327283600 And with the tape removed. When Toby said that this stuff sets up fast it was an understatement. I literally finished the driver's side and it was already setting up and becoming difficult to remove the tape. Luckily I didn't leave it all night like he did. It was off within 30mins of applying the sealer. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1327283624 I finished seam sealing at about 12am, had the car on the trailer by 1am and at my shop by 2am. I didn't want the car sitting outside in the dewy air so I moved some trucks around at the shop to get it in there. I had an appointment at 7am to drop the car off for paint so it was a huge push to get it ready by then. I dropped the car off and 6hrs later I brought it home, painted and cleared. The guy I used does amazing paint work, I couldn't be happier how it turned out. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1327283656 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1327283640 Don't go anywhere, there is still more... |
So now that the bay is painted, I could start cleaning all the components that were going to find their way back into the bay... Here it is a few hours after bolting things in.
http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1327801806 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1327801804 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1327801818 While the crossmember was out I bead blasted it and had it powdercoated gloss black, I think it turned out rad. I bought Nismo steering rack bushings and new inner and adj, outer tierods from SPL. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1327801780 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1327801780 Adapter to convert my hardline to accept an AN fitting. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1327801829 Instead of the traditional install from the top, I opted to hoist the car up and roll the motor/tranny underneath and lower the body on to the crossmember. This helped for two reasons, I didn't need an extra hand and it kept me from scratching the paint. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1329704566 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1329704576 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1329704578 The motor is finally in and bolted up to the frame rails... I slapped the manifolds on just to get an idea. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1329704590 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1329704604 Because of the limited clearance I have behind the head and my bulkhead, I had to use Mazworx CAS kit. It plugs the original hole on the back of the head and installs through the front of the head. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1329704566 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1331512744 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1331512769 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1331512778 More to come, thanks for looking as always... |
So beautiful, and motivating, I am just about to go to work at putting my vvl head on, let me know if you have any advice.

very clean!! good luck!
|
Very clean indeed loving the attention to detailing the motor looks amazing props.
|
Glad someone knows how to do shhh right
|
My hat is off to you sir ! Awesome work!!
|
Awesome bay! I will be doing the same thing come this fall/winter. Any tips or tricks you can give that you encountered during the whole process?
|
Bay looks awesome, even better with the engine!

I have lost all interest in my SR build after seeing how big those intake ports are. I had no idea there was that much of a difference!
Do work man! Looking good! |
Let me know how you like your GTX turbo once its all running. I have been waiting for over a year now for my BW EFR turbo and will most likely be switching to a GTX series if it takes any longer hah

Anyway, more on the build... Once I finished with the sensor, I went on to making an aluminum bracket to mount my VVL solenoid block to the passenger strut tower. I wanted to hide the block as much as possible, so this was the final mounting location. I actually had to flip the bracket 180 because once the IACV was mounted on the underside of the manifold, it wouldn't allow the manifold to bolt up to the head. I ended up with an 1/8 gap between the IACV and the solenoid block when the IM is bolted into place. Then I ran the feed/purge lines to their respective ports. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1331512844 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1331512790 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1331512802 I think around the beginning of the year I had my manifold and turbo ex. housing sent to Zfever so they could get it thermal coated for me. I went and picked it up two weeks later on my way to a dyno meet in Tampa. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1327283683 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1327283688 As plenty of us know, when you remove the condenser from an s-chassis it leaves a huge void on the sides of the radiator. So, with a little time I had available, I made some airdams for the sides of the radiator. It's 1/8 aluminum, we have an abundance of it at work, so I cut what I needed. Air obviously travels in the path of least resistance, so leaving those holes unattended would've lowered my cooling efficieny and SR's have a tendancy to run hot, so this was a little bit of insurance. I will be sealing the tighter areas with some weather stripping, however this alone is a cheap and effective mod and will serve it's purpose. Dont mind the bent fins, I'll be straightening the majority of them out. I've had this radiator since 06' and it's treated me well. The hole in the second picture is for my oil cooler lines. I plan to have my cooler mounted right behind the grill. More on that later. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1331512811 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1332464084 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1331512825 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1331512829 I converted my old atmospheric oil catch can into a vacuum sourced catch can. I'll be utilizing an exhaust venturi for the vacuum source, which stills needs tobe installed into my down pipe. Making the lines and lines completed below... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1331512853 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1332464074 Oil cooler lines thus far. I need to purchase some more line to finish the run from the thermostat to the cooler itself. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1332464860 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1332464125 And my throttle cable that is hidden until it pokes out to land in the bracket. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1332464106 At this point I've begun to slow down on the build. A lot of little things that are getting put together, but they aren't interesting. I've also started the relocation of the fuse/relay box and I'll get pictures of it when it's mounted. It's a very tedious task doing the wiring, a lot of patience is needed. Sometimes I swear I have tourette's and scream obscenities when I screw up or get lost. Thanks for looking, still pluggin away at her. I'll leave it with a current status picture of the engine bay. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1337118640 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1337118631 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1337118630 |
VVL for life. What cams are you running again? Stock 2.0? or the N1's?
Never mind I see stock. Did you mod your exhaust manifold yet? If it's a DE flange on it the ports don't line up. The manifold needs to go up a little and it will be golden. |
Quote:
I already took care of the manifold issue. Oblonged the bolt holes then used a borescope to make sure Cyl 1&4 were up high enough. Then I torqued it down... |
This is amazing so far! Subscribed for sure! :)
|
I subscribed too, very beautiful worksmanship, pure art. I hope mine comes together like this.

cool project
|
JR, this thing looks like it's going to be a beast. I'll be looking forward to your updates.

Wow dude looks great, love clean engine bays
|
Balllin!!!!!!! Great work

Well, update time! So, I've been slacking on the updates but that's not because I'm not getting work done. I've been working on the harness for a few days here and there, not really too interesting in my mind. However, I did get some suspension bolted back on the car tonight. I need to pull the car out of the garage because we're getting a new door put in and well the car has to move. I bit the bullet and bought some new lower control arms. I had bent the passenger side one being stupid the last time the car was up and running and I didn't have the time to get the new one I have here laying around back to built status(i.e. gusseted, Moonface rollcenters and Nismo bushings). I will when I find the time, but for right now these will be fine. I'm also ordering heim joint endlinks for the Whiteline swaybars to get rid of that crap figure 8 design they have. As always, pictures!!! http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1338338559 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1338338561 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1338338591 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1338338596 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1338338603 And the best for last. Some of you may recall me stating that I ordered a Status racing seat a few weeks/months back. Well, it finally arrived last week. As usual, I was out of town on business/visiting my girlfriend when it arrived. However, it was the first thing on my list this morning. This thing looks and feels amazing, def a snug fit. I'm in the process of aquiring an R32 GTR passenger seat to have reupholstered to match along with the door cards and rear seats. Anyone want some S14 leather rears? http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1338338568 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1338338574 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1338338582 As usual, thanks for looking! |
So, I decided to swap out my 30mm Z32 calipers for something a little lighter and newer technology. I ended up going with a Wilwood Superlite 4pot caliper and a bracket kit to utilize the 350z track rotors. The caliper has slightly more piston area than a Z32 caliper so it won't disrupt the brake bias too much. Bracket kit was designed and made by a member on NRR, overall a great kit, complete and concise.
Overall fitment is similiar to the Z32 setup and I have plenty of clearance with my 350z V1 tracks. I'll get pictures of the wheels on in a few days. I'm going to be running the 8.5's up front and having another set widened to 9.5" for the rear. Still lots more to do and more updates will slowly flow in. Thanks for looking as usual. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1338946349 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1338946349 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1338946362 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1339034253 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1339034264 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1339034276 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1339034264 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1339034277 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1339034253 |

************************************************** ***** As usual, life happens and I've been busy with it. I've worked on the car here and there trying to cross things off the long "to do" list. I took my R32 GTR seat and rear seats to get re-upholstered. They will match my Status bucket in charcoal suede. I had the guy make the center sections of the seats look as close to the bucket as possible. I need to pull my door cards to get them over there as well. Anyway moving on, I've been wanting to add some shrouding around my oil cooler to direct air through it, rather than letting air run all around it. As you can see in the pictures below, it sits behind my grill inlet. This seemed like the most logical place to put it so it has a constant source of fresh, cool air, rather than behind the intercooler and getting sloppy seconds. I finished the shrouding up last week after a lot of designing, drawing, redesigning and such. I have yet to test for hood latch clearance, but since I'll be running an aerocatch setup, it won't hurt my feelings if I have to cut the latch off. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1345927952 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1345927953 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1345929379 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1345927932 I finally recieved the rest of my parts to finish the oil catch can setup. I'm using an exhaust venturi to pull vacuum on the entire system. I got that welded into my downpipe and the necessary fittings organized and together to finalize it. I just need to crawl under the car and hook it up. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1345928362 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1345927978 As stated in my last post I've been working on the relocation of the engine bay fuse box and all the associated fun with that. I finalized the location of the box this past week. I really didn't want to reinvent the wheel and completely redo the entire harness. Everything worked the way it was from the factory so, I'm going to keep it as is. I'll just lengthen some wiring here and there to have it terminate in it's original fashion. I like where it ended up, hidden and out of the way. I don't use the jack that came with the car nor do I have a spare in it, so I utilized the factory bracket that held the jack to help hold the box. I hacked the bottom portion of the fuse box off and used a piece of scrap aluminum we have at the shop to rivet to it. Then I mocked everything up, marked, clamped, cut and viola! Wiring will recommence soon. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1345930524 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1345930524 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1345930533 Mounted up and hidden.... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1345928349 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1345928341 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1345928338 I still have a lot of work left to do. As always I'll update as often as possible. I travel at times for work so I'm not always getting things done. Thanks for looking. |
Very nice work :)
What model of KW coilovers do you use and how do they perform? |
Nice work man, some serious hours in that!
|
Clean work, I'm impressed. I wish that I had the time to start a new project. Reading on here keeps me from doing so though.

***** I ordered some braided nylon expandable wire sleeving and adhesive heat shrink to finish my fuse box relocation. I'm hoping it'll be here this week so I have something to work on. Anyway, on to the updates.******
So, I finally completed my catch can setup. For those that haven't been paying attention, I'm using an exhaust venturi to create vacuum in the system. Once I had the check valve mocked up along with the fittings, I could cut and assemble the line. I used some thermal sheathing to help prevent the line from being destroyed from the heat. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1346632402 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1346632402 I had been fighting with myself for sometime on where to locate my FPR. I wanted to mount it in an easily accessible location for obvious reasons, but I couldn't invision how the lines would terminate to it where I wanted it. So while I was just tossing around ideas I found my final mounting location. I utilized the inside lip of my shakitto plate and with some scrap aluminum I had laying around, I created a bracket and had it mounted in a night. I have my fuel filter running up the inside of the passenger frame rail where I can get to it if I need to clean it. I'm missing one fitting from the rail to the regulator and I'll have the fuel system completed. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1346632415 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1346632415 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1346632426 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1346632426 This evening I started making my cold charge pipe(from IC to TB). I'm using 2.75" SS piping that is unpolished. Once I have the pipe completely welded up, I'll polish it, but for the time being it is what it is. I'll need to do something like pie cutting to get a tighter radius on the piece that 90's down from the TB. I really am against pie cutting, but am very limited to what I can do with it. I've been trying to find a 2.75" x 3.5" reducing 90 hose coupler, but I've come up short in my searches. In the second picture you'll get an idea of how tight the turn needs to be. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1346632439 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1346632440 ******* As usual, thanks for looking, I'll do my best to keep the updates coming. |
Man, this is a badass build. Can't wait to see it finished.
|
I love the engine bay color, and I am not a guy that favors the color red but you pulled it off with flair.
Props, Kudos, and all other great things to say about this build! my only question is, why did you opt to mount the oil filter upside down ? I understand to hide the lines a little but would it work to run along the frame rail and have it underneath and the lines just slightly above the rail ? less mess during a oil change and still hidden enough ? |
amazing attention to detail, the cleanses bay I've seen

i know of a few people here in australia using the mazworx plenums and had problems with them cracking so i would highly recommend bracing it before fitting it up
i much prefer the hypertune ve inlet plenum chamber http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...12613249_n.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...30416691_n.jpg |
Who wouldn't love the Hyper tune, It's just for the price of one you can buy 2 Mazworxs manifolds lol.
|
whats the price of the mazworx plenum worth ? i thought they were roughly the same price
|
They cost $1,095.00 USD
|
its not that much different
but then again u guys have to pay for shipping from australia where as i have to pay shipping from the U.S |
Ohh I thought those Hyper tune intake manifolds run in $2200 AUD range lol my bad.

I've had it mounted like that since my last swap and decided to leave it as is. I really couldn't find a better location without having extremely long lines. It made running the oil reloc/cooler lines and obviously oil filter access much easier. Quote:

************************************************** ** Tonight I got a chance to finish up my oil cooler lines. My buddy had some -10an Black Nylon hose laying around that he wasn't using, so I snatched it to finish up my stuff. Before I could get to working on making the remaining lines I had to pull the radiator out to enlarge the hole I initially made for the lines to pass through. Once the hole was enlarged, I put some vacuum tubing on the edges to keep it from chaffing through the cooler lines and ran everything to it's corresponding location. Enough gum flapping, pictures below. Oil cooler from the engine side... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1346893314 Shot from the driver's side headlight area... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1346893322 The lines coming through the hole in the radiator shroud and terminating at the thermostat... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1346893330 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1346893324 |
The quality of this build is unbelievable!!! This oil cooler set up seems very well thought out

could you give me an overview on how you plan to do your exh manifold vacuum source for your catch can? y is it better than venting to atmosphere?
|

It has been proven to make gains on a dyno vs just venting to atmosphere, that is why I did it. ************************************************** ********** Friday, I swung by the local race supply shop and picked up the fittings I needed to finish my oil feed line, two 90*'s and 3ft of -4AN SS hose. Yesterday, I recieved a few packages in the mail consisting of the last fuel line fitting, a 90* coupler I was waiting on to finish my cold pipe and my new K&N air element. I'll try to get the cold pipe finished up tonight. There are still some small things to do in the engine bay and I have my wiring to finish up, which includes removing the dash to run my harness over there. On Friday, I also ordered my ChaseBays CM2 harness and a Haltech P2000 from them. Hopefully, they'll be in before the end of NOV. On to the pictures....! http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1347215009 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1347214998 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1347214998 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1347215023 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1347216126 Overview of the engine bay as it currently sits... http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1347215043 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1347215082 http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1347215065 As usual thank you for looking... |
awesome build!

Looking great man, where'd you get those plates from the towers back to the firewall?
|
Looks great. Any plan B if your turbo starts to cook the brake fluid?

Just stumbled across this build and I am impressed! Much respect for choosing to do things (everything) with excellence and intentional planning. Great work!
|
Did you use a Vibrant venturi in your exhaust or did you make your own? I'm kind of caught between intake and exhaust as far as plumbing my catch can goes.
