Hi Steve,
I was told to try and hit you up on a few questions for a build I am planning.
First my car is at
DriftKat.com - The Nissan 240SX Super Site! I am looking to keep in stock looking and running reliably. I am an older (37) professional that's pretty much in this car because it's the one I like. It's hard to get good info because so many people on the boards are happy without A/C, gauges that work, constant rattles, etc...
My main debate is SR20DET vs LSx...I had considered going GTO even...but it's not going to be the type of car for me.
So my questions, first what is your opinion on the engines?
Second if I went SR20DET, my plan is shooting for 300-350RWHP...I am looking for a daily driver that could turn a 12 or so at the track, but still drive nice in stop and go.
My plan is a S13 blacktop, enthalpy tune, a GT2871R/.64, Greddy Intake and intercooler, upgraded injectors, fuel pump and radiator, JWT S3's, Pulsar throttle body (or Q45) and a 3" downpipe to go on my current 3" cat and 80mm 5Zigen exhaust.
Side additions will be an upgraded clutch, water pump, oil pump, new head gasket.
I am hoping to do this between $5-7k, or even less if I can source used. If you know more on the LSx swaps I'd appreciate any info that way too.
Things I don't think I need are ignition upgrades, tube manifolds, cam sprockets, valve kit, ATI balancer...
How would you do this build though? What real budget should I have?
Thanks
Chris
