(blantantly ripped off AKA Sir on Supraforums)

"Sorry if this is a repost. This shows how big of assholes these big companies can be.

Long story short.. Nissan Motors does not own Nissan.com (it is a computer company) Nissan Motors is sueing this company for $10 million. The prelim hearings have mostly gone Nissan Computers way, but the case go to jury trial in Oct 2002. Nissan Motors is just trying to bombard this somewhat small computer company with legal action so they can not afford it and give in. According to the article, Nissan Motors spends $400 million each year on advertising in the US alone! And they wont offer to buy the domain from this company. They have probably already spent 5 - 10 million just on legal fees. There is a form on the page to voice your opinions.
I am totally on Nissan computers side on this one.

http://www.nissan.com (click on the large text that says "Nissan Motor's Lawsuit Against Us")

What would you charge Nissan Motors if they wanted to buy it?? After treating me like they did, it would be at least $25 million."

How do you guys/gals feel about this?

i think the asshole for the computer company made a website before internet was big in an attempt to get money out of nissan when they decided to make a website.  I dont really care either way, though.

Sounds like Nissan Motors is just being stupid. &nbsp; Why spend millions of dollars on court cost when you could just offer them half a million and sell it most likely?

zephyr, if that was the case, then nissan motors has a chance. Unfortionately the guy's name really is Nissan and he purchased the domain name before doing that was made illegal
*too lazy to look up the law/act*
IIRC it was passed some time after 1998 I think, but not sure.

I wonder if whoever sold the domain name to nissan computers is allowed to refuse a renewal...If so, nissan motors would probably pay them to do that.

if i was this guy, i would ask for a fleet of US legal skylines all with nissan converted LHD &nbsp; <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/inlove.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> we know they have the parts available, i'd tell them its a relatively small price to pay for their domain name. a little cash on the side and some more nissan cars too, and i would be set
