Well, I just got a 95 240 today. When I checked it out it was running fine. When I brought it home I noticed that it was spitting out white smoke. Think the car is burning oil. There is also a noise when the engine comes on. Sounds liek there is something loose in the motor? Know what it might be? Does anyone else have this problem?

white smoke from exhaust = burning water/coolant... oil = blue smoke and odd smell.  it could be just condensation in the intake... or a bad headgasket.  
something clanging around = not good at all.  possibly a timing chain guide....

Whats the mileage on your s14? I had something like that happen a few days after i bought my s13. I checked my oil and it turned out that it was so low, it didn't even register on the dip stick. I put in 3 quarts, and now it's fine. If you just bought it, maybe you should contact the previous owner and find out if they know anything.

The previous owner was an old man and he didn't drive the car that often nor did he maintain it well. He just did basic every 3k mi. oil change, brakes, sh*t like that. I did a compression test it turns out to be my piston rings. Thinking about a rebuild or a swap. Any suggestions?

Well, you can swap in a used motor, which will be your cheapest route. &nbsp;I've seen a couple KA24DE's around lately for under $400. &nbsp;OR you might take this oppertunity to swap in the JDM SR20DET and have yourself a kickass little turbo car.

(gees it'd be cool to have a chick on the board with an SR)

Was thinkign that. I can prob find a used motor and tranny for arounf 500 and drop it in myself. My dad offered to pay for teh motor so I was thinking of getting a sr20det but my car is, unfortunately, an auto. How much would it cost total for manual conversion and motor?

iirc, the sr20det swap comes in with a 5speed tranny so you don't have to worry about that.

ya still need to deal with pedals and clutch hydro lines and such. But that can be done with not to much work.
