S13 blacktop or redtop?

Which sr20det engine is better? Why is the blactop more expensive than the redtop?

s13 black top and s13 red top is the same thing, just the black top is newer, 93 and on?  and red top is 91-93?

so basically the black top is less likely to break

Which would be easier to put in the front clip or the engine?

sadly, the front clip is the engine, usually front clip consist of everything u need for the engine swap.  people like front clips better because supposly everything u need is in there.  but when u just buy the engine (w/ tranny usually, 'cause it won't make sense), you risk of not having all the parts u need for the conversion

it's misleading, the front clip usually don't come w/ body parts, so yah...  or else i would of gotten a front clip

but if you are talking 'bout the silvia front end, it's pretty easy to do, i'm gonna work on it soon... i hope...  everything is direct bolt on

If you can afford it I suggest gettin a Black top front clip.  The Black top is a 94+ and will make it easier also to use your power steering and A/C if you have a 91-94 US 240sx.

If you get the clip you can use the side mount intercooler, radiator(which has different inlet/outlet than the US one), radiator shroud, a/c lines and all the little parts that make installation that much easier.

If you just get the motor/tranny etc..then you have the fun job of hunting all these misc parts.

Meowth is right...most clips do not have panel and if they do most of the time they are damages and unusable....it's the engine bay that they are concerned about.

s14 blacktops use a vvt system. they also have cooling channel pistons that handle more power than their redtop counterparts. rps13 blacktops are the same exept they do not include the vvt system. one drawback of the blacktop engines is that the intake ports and surge tank are not in a straight line. redtop heads are generally better to use. the cooling system from a redtop is also better to use. less chance of the venerable sr20 overheating.laters all...

its not the engine, its the milage. the (k)rps13 blacktop, being newer, is likely to have lower miles than an s13 redtop. hence, you're likely to get a better, cleaner engine

Let's not forget gents that the blacktop uses a garrett t28 turbo as compared to the t25 that the redtop uses. &nbsp;The t28 is bigger (after seeing the difference between mine and civickilla's s14 blacktop I was like damn) and can handle more boost i.e. more power (w/ upgraded injectors, fuel pump, and ecu...of course <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> )

yea the S14 black top uses a T-28 compressor and a T-25 turbine. &nbsp;with a ball bearing center. &nbsp;and VVT was added.

The S13 red AND S13 black top use a T-25 turbine and T-25 compressor. &nbsp;none ball bearing. &nbsp;no VVT.

But both engines have their advantages. &nbsp;I personally would rather a S13 black top my self. &nbsp;VVT isnt a good thing when you want to get to low low times (10s). &nbsp;small parts break <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
