View Full Version : quick bov and intercooler piping question

1)Got a 95 s14 with ka24de-t.. installing a front mount intercooler with a length of 29" from end to end and 7" tall and 2.5" wide with inlet and outlets of 2.5"..
2)Got a T25 turbo..
3)my setup so far for the piping is going to be air intake is 2.75" piping with maf and a tube for recirculation from the bov..
4)K from the air compressor side will come out with a 1g dsm bov on 2" piping.. it will recirculate into the intake tube after the maf and back into the turbo..
5)from the 2" piping it will go down to about a 1 ft of 2.5 in pipng
6)Then into the intercooler and then 2.5" piping out
7)then to a short 2.75" cold pipe back into the intake manifold.

My question is .. without the bov crushed, will this be a fine set up to run 7 psi daily and 10-12 psi max? Or where is the best place to recirculate and place the BOV... here is a quick pic i did through photoshop..

i think dsm's were 12 psi stock so running it un crushed i think will be ok i always ran 11 psi in my crx and never had a prob with boost leak. if i were you i would just put the bov next to the compressor inlet that way you dont have a long ass tube running across your engine bay just to recirculate.

my dsm friend say that the 1g bov can handle a tad bit more than 1 bar boost uncrushed. I have yet to get my car complete, so I could not tell you for sure. (i.e im spoutin hearsay... meh)

The recirc location and placement should be fine. The bov Can be placed on the coldpipe also, but i dont really think it matters.

shortest answer of all. u can do with no bov at 7psi.

really aight cool.. ya i was thinkin bout putting it on the cold pipe and recirculate i believe on the same location as the picture.. but i think i'd loose a bit pressure drop across the fmic, would that be good to put it on the coldpipe so the intake manifold will get as much of the boost as possible before recirculating? or putting it on the hotpipe would be better because its more efficient (no idea)?

in the long run makes no difference. of course there will be people here swearing up and down that cold side is way more effective blah blah blah

lol aight cool guys thanks.. im gonna keep it on the hot pipe then.. ill keep ya updated on the project.
