i know from the factory, hatchbacks werent offered with the two tone paint. i dont know why. i know everyone says its ugly but the only pics of two tone hatchbacks that ive seen have shitty paint jobs and horrible color selection. i personally think that if it was done right it would look pretty good. im gonna be painting my 91 hatchback after i finish my sr swap, my sileighty changeover, and my rear wide fenders. im willing to be a pioneer and two tone my hatchback. im considering either the platinum blue metallic over dark gray metallic, or the jdm only white-ish over gold-ish. i have the paintcode for the platinum blue metallic over dark gray metallic but not the white-ish over gold-ish. if any one can give me the code, or a similar color code that was offered in the U.S., i would be greatful. ive been searching for three days now and no luck.

I found this picture, there are a couple of pictures of this car or one with the same paint job on this site in the picture threads. I also believe there is a thread that gives a link to a website that lists all of the factory colors and their codes.

Here is the link to the page so you don't have to waist 15 mins trying to find it like I did:

95KA-Turbo, good job on the search. However, it only lists the 2-tone options for US cars. The Whits on Gold in the first pic was never offered in the US. To the Thread Starter, take one of those pics to a good body shop, or paint store and they should be able to help you find something close if not exact. Alot of times they have the Factory colors listed for you to pick from. Good luck.

thanks a lot everyone....yea i saw that paint color chart on socal240sx.org a while back and it doesnt list the jdm only color options. i dunno. i like the white and gold, but the other two tone color i listed is growing on me more....i dunno, im just gonna sand and prep my car and two tone it with two different primer colors and see if two tone even looks good on a hatch to me. i want it too look old school, with a new look to it, i dont know how to explain it.

and TiNMAN, post them pics i dont think ive ever seen a two tone s14.

Here is a pic of my white/gold sil80. I took them a pic of the car that the front end orig came on and they matched the gold that was already my bumper and fenders.

Two tone looks nice if the colors are well coordinated. The stock two tones on the coupes are pretty nasty looking...green and white etc.. Not my style. Silver and white, gold and white, silver and black, or gold and black would look killer though :D I've seen a C4 Corvette around here with black on top, red on bottom and it looks pretty slick.

no pic, red X

EDIT: nevermind.

that looks pretty good in my opinion....to bad you beat me to it. i have the non-projector dual halogen s13 silvia headlights and a gtr grille so we'll be somewhat different. you also beat me to the damn wangan wing. i was gonna throw one on too when i was done because my decklid looks like shit after i tried to fix all the rust holes. looks like you had the same vision i had. i may go with the platinum blue metallic over dark gray metallic. hell i dont know, its gotta get warmer before i can go out there and start sandin and preppin. chances are by then i'll be real sure. thanks for the pic, thats a nice car.

Thanks,

I got rearended back in sept and just decided to repaint the whole thing since it was going to be down. I had a real b-wave wing before but when I was replacing my parts I had to go with the ebay copy which sucks since you have to drill through the decklid unlike the b-wave which uses tabs that mount to the side.

yea there was a ton of b-wave wangan wings on ebay about a month ago and now there all gone. i'll just have to wait around. i hope this two tone paint looks ok with my 180sx kouki taillights. it should be fine. could you possibly post some more pics of your car. i wanna see what it looks like from the sides and rear.

Sure,

I will try and take some more. My friend took that at one of our local meets.

Yeah japan-factory had a few on there but they are no longer a user on ebay.

These guys seem to be the only ones that seem to be selling the copy.

Search EBay for Wangan. You'll find them. No EBay links here, though.

But japan-factory is no longer registered and they didnt have a website.

Two tone is a great way to go. Black and red is a great contrast. The factory S13 two tones have that dated look, that can be cool, but something not expected would be nice.

the white/champaigne color is the hottest out of all the two-tones. At least for me.

I, on the other hand, have the creamy-yellow/silver metallic two-tone, with sprinkles of rust.

Some JDM two tones include:
Citrus yellow over gunmetal
Warm white over gold
Lavender frost over gunmetal
Silver over gunmetal
Beige over brown

I'll try to find some pics of these if I can.

There was a 2 tone thread not too long ago, with a bunch of pics in it. Search for it.

What does everyone think about a two tone hatch (or even a coupe) with a black roof? Would there be too many colors? What do you guys think, good or bad?

EchoOfSilence

There's a lot of people with the black roof two-tone already

Thanks for the reply but I should have cleared up what I meant. I thought it might be misconstrued. I meant black roof in addition to two tone (Would it be called 3 tone?). How do you think that would look?

Silver/gunmetal two tone with a black roof and hood off of Drift unit's site
