I just got back from the Subaru dealer. Dropped a little over 40K on my wifes new Tribeca. Ouch! Now she wants me to sell my coupe.:wtf:
Not cool, she gets a brand new Subie and wants me to sell my toy.
That new STi was sick as hell though. Id trade in my truck and my 240 for that bad boy, could not talk her into that one though.

That's seriously messed up. My wife would never try to pull that shit, and honestly I wouldn't have married her if she did...
I hope you're embellishing just for the story's sake. :faint:

Yep that is the actual pic no retouch.
I must admit I am embellishing a little, and I did misrepresent buying my coupe as an investment to her, so I guess I can't blame her for wanting me to sell my little rocket, but Damn. We will see I am in the middle of a Silvia conversion right now, so that will up the value of the car. I will probilly be able to put her off for a while.
As far as the whipped comments I would say I have a great life, and a great marrage. Have you guys ever heard the phrase " Happy wife Happy life"?
Trust me these are words to live by.

Well said Jonnie. I actually just bought my Wife a Chysler Town and Country yesterday, and I'm doing my Silvia Conversion next month. lol My wife hasn't (and wouldn't) ask me to sell my car though. It's paid for, get's good gas mileage, and keeps me happy to work on it. Good luck with yours!

I hope its a joint bank account.
If you dropped 40k straight up, thats ouch, but if its just payments then thats not too bad.
She didn't want a used car? New cars are scary, the depreciation alone scares me from visiting a stealership.
Either way good job keeping her happy, I'm sure she reciprocates.

Thanks guys, I knew there were some guys out there who could understand.
It is so funny how some guys will say " Your so whipped" or " I am the man, I make the decisions" They say this on the net to us, but to the wife or girlfriend it's "Yes Dear!!" or they don't have a better half.:bowrofl: Thanks again.

i made my gf for 3 years read ur thread she also thinks u are whipped
i guess it has a lot to do with the way u were raised. if u were raised by ur mom and dad wasnt around.
being nice to ur wife by buying her a nice car is one thing and she telling u that u cant have ur coupe is another.

What a hateful thing to say. Just because my Father taught me it was ok to spoil the love of my life you make the mistaken assumtion that he was not around to teach me right?
It's funny how you think I am whipped and I think arguing on the internet is like racing mules...Even if you win you are still a Jackass!

some people take flaming on this forum way too far, maybe the mods should look for some psyc offices to sponsor zilvia, then mods could refer some of the "members" to them... lol
Good for you on getting the new car, i hope you stay married for a long time. What works for me girl + obsession over gasoline? Go to the track, party at track, at hotel, take them for ride alongs at track, introduce them to people, women love new social scenes, if you are treating you car obsession as an anti social device, she'll hate it, but if the social thing based around you're car is what she's involved in, she'll say "heh honey... i really think you should get that gt2871, then the "jonese will really envy us.."
.... just a thought..
john
IMO it's not cool of her to want to sell your coupe. I dont know how serious she is about it. She shouldn't have an opinion on the matter. Maybe she thinks you should have a nicer car. ? Show up with a new STI or whatever from a test drive and see how she reacts.(Tell her you bought it and you have to sacrifice many things to be able to afford it)

dont get me wrong i really shouldnt judge ur relationship with ur wife on one incident i have no right to do that but i dont know i love my car and if i had a wife and if she told me that i should get rid of my car. i ll make sure to let her know that it aint gonna happen.
and if she loved me she wouldnt ask me to sell my car because she would know how much i enjoy it.

Fair enough, and I guess it is partialy my fault for not expressing how much I love the little car. We will see I am sure I will be keeping it, but it will be a joint decision not just me telling her "It stays"...LOL

Some of you are saying you would never let the wife sell the 240, I think you'll change your mind when your get bored of the 240. If I had a wife and she seriously wanted me to sell the 240 for whatever reason, I would. I am not whipped, but your'e talking about your wife for god's sake. This is the lady that is having your kids, the mother of your children, the person that you will spend the rest of your life with, and you would choose a car over her? 240s are great, but they're just a hobby. Life is more than just about cars. If you would rather choose a 240 over your wife, then maybe you shouldn't marry her?

I've been married for two years, and have been with my wife for 10 years. She knew I was into cars when she met me, so she knew what she was getting into. So you're saying that it's okay to sacrifice your own happiness to satisfy someone else? Sorry, but as soon as one person in the relationship isn't happy anymore, it's not a relationship -- it's a power play.
I couldn't look at myself in the mirror if I asked my wife to give up something that she loves and makes her happy. That would be selfish on my part, and I wouldn't want her to do it to me. AND SHE WOULDN'T.

I wouldn't stand for the wife telling me what to sell of mine. My woman has an understanding that my shit is mine and her shit is hers. We do own things together. But she knows that she can't tell me to get rid of my shit.
I'd tell to take a flying one if she told me to get rid of my car.

How do you spend $40k on a $33k car?

There's two words that our wives want to hear all the time. "Yes Dear."
And just to add my two cents...
Wife > 240
Wife =/= GF.
I just hope that you guys sorted it out.

Get everything...lol Add nav, DVD, and all the accessories. She realy likes it!
It is pretty freeking nice, and for us Defi bufs it has the full sweep on startup gauges. Pretty sick.
There is a funny joke that relates to this, dont worry it's PG.
This big mans man marries his pretty petite little wife, and they are in the bedroom on their wedding night.
The big mans man looks at his pretty new wife takes off his pants and tosses them over to his wife. " Go ahead and try these on." he says. So she proceeds to pull his pants on and when she pulls them up they just drop to the floor. "I can't wear these" she says. "Thats right, I wear the pants in this relationship, and Don't you forget it!"
She gives this sexy sly little grin and starts to strip down. She gets down to her panties, and he is getting all hot and bothered.
Then she flippes her lacey little panties over to him and says "Try these on." He looks at these tiny little things and looks over at her and says "I can't get into these!" And she says "That's right, and if you don't change your attitude you are'nt ever going to, and Don't you forget it!"

hahah! thats a sad but true joke... anyway, i commend you for doing that for your wife, but someone earlier had a great point... its not gonna do A THING for the debt (youll make MAYBE $5k if your rims are gold). if she thinks it looks ugly, or wants you to have a nicer car, then buy an S14 and start fixing that up... hehe... anyway, good luck, and love > everything.
