Alright, my SR20DE is making a strange screaching noise when i start my car and when it starts the motor acts like its not getting enough gas, so does any one know if its the starter thats the cause for these two problems, and if so can i get a Sentra SE-R starter?

don't know exactly what a screaching sound is, but does it come from the starter itself or somewhere else?

im pretty sure it does come from the starter because after you finish trying to start the motor this screahing/grinding sound starts, also it takes a few cranks when the car is cold to get it started, but does this mean new starter?

if it is grinding and comeing form the starter, i would guess that it is an electrical problem and that you neend to chek the connections (grinding/whirring= starter motor turning when it is not in the engaged position) listen to it closeley, and feel the housing if indeedt he teeth are spinninw while they are not int he "out" engegeing with the motor position that i would guess there is a short somewhere. that short could easily be inside and you need a new starter, but if you ahve done any work near it lateley i would start with checking all the connectors and thier clearences wut every other engine part near then to makes sure nothing is frayed/ toutching somehting else.

that's just my best guess form the description.

i experienced the same problem before, but easily solved by simply digging through the junk yards :D i'm pretty new to this forum, but that's just my 2 cents. good luck with your starter problem. :x:
