did you do the tension rods on the ground or in the air. If you did it in the air realize that the suspension is now drooping and that when you put it back on the ground it compresses. What you have to do is compensate for the drooping suspension and have the ball joints turn toward the wheel so that when you put it on the ground it will be centered. Right now you probably had it centered whe nit was in the air and when you put it back on the ground the ball joint is turned in maxed and when you turn you are binding the ball joint. Fix this fast yoru you will start prying the surround of the ball joint. Also you might want to check your cross member is bolted in tight... After a while with solid suspension mine came loose so i put some blue loctite on them and torqued them to spec i think its like ~72-80 or something like that

He installed Kazama tie rod ends, and those use Heim Joints, so if you're talking about the ball joint on a tie rod end, your post was kinda not helpful. My car clunks like that because the spring on the perch "hops".

Does it clunk when you turn the steering completely one way or just under normal steering?

My tie rod end hits my lower control arm when I make the car turn to the right all of the way.

He's saying there is possibly binding in the suspension tie rod end. NOT some loose spring hopping around. In this guy's situation, maybe if he's moving around you'd hear the springs hopping, but he said he was stationary. So maybe YOUR post wasn't very helpful at all.

Mine also does it while it's moving, and while it's stationary, I never thought that the tie rod end could be the meanings of the occurance. Don't get all butt hurt mister, I wasn't even talking to you.

Far from it. I don't care if you're talking to me or somebody else. You were blatantly trying to disrespect someone for an honest answer when all you gave was BS. If your car is still doing it, maybe you should ask vvtisupra what's up because it seems he actually fixed his problem.

You're only sticking up for him because you're friends or something.

The point I made was apparent especially because the only thing he specifies in the post are BALL JOINTS. He doesn't name any specific parts. Maybe it was my bad to ASSUME he was talking about the tie rod ends. I may have come off as a dick, but I offered a solution that I PERSONALLY HAVE. Don't be a fucking douche.

ALSO, if he's having issues with a TIE ROD END, it's not a fucking BALL JOINT, which is what I was trying to point out.

/\ you replied talking about your springs being too low and they come loose from the perch. the thread starter is asking about the poping sounds when he turns the steering wheel. NOTHING to do with the coilovers.

there was a post like this before, http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=92304
My car makes the same poping sounds when turning the wheel, making u turns slowly and such. my cars in the shop now getting checked out so hopefully it will get fixed.

I HAVE that problem now, but before, it was my springs, FYI I am running the same set up as him.

My car used to do it when going from lock to lock on or off the ground.

It stopped after I got an alingment though, so I never found out what the cause was... whatever.

After installing tension rod, c/o w/camber plates, powerbrace, and stb, my lil brothers s13 clunks all the time, hitting bumps, etc. You will get a little noise if your using all spherical joints (all metal contact through out the spension=a little more noisey).. Double check to make sure that nothing is lose.

damn, this kinda worries me, next week I'm going to be installing a new right side lower control arm, tein pillow ball tension rods, nismo power brace and some tie rod/tie rod ends (not sure what brand yet, I was going to go tein, but I hate the boot end systems, so I'm prolly going kazama or silk road with the solid ends). So once I'm done with the initial install, you guys are saying I should lower it down and torque it with it in the resting position? thats gonna be hard with my tokicko blue strut/shock setup.

make sure your ball joints on your LCA aren't worn out. Also, make sure your strut mount(s) aren't fucked up/worn. it could also be a blown shock.

+1 more for the ball joint theory.

It happens all the time and from out of left field.
