I recently done a lot of tune up works and installed a new AEM short ram intake (with the new dry air filter) for my 91 ka24de with 200k miles. Woah that mpg improved from 25mpg to 27 mpg, I think AEM must have some steroid on the filter element.
Now I am going to give it few more tries and see if the number is consistent. The mpg was obtained from mixing of freeway and local driving.

I had a K&N drop-in filter (only used 6k miles) before the AEM intake. maybe i just got lucky with the number.....i will update what mpg i get for the next tank of fuel.

Its their new filter...doesn't require oiling. Instead of the standard gauze/wire mesh filter media, it looks like some sort of fiber material. It definately does not look as sturdy as the standard gauze/wire mesh filter.
