View Full Version : Flexible IC piping?
i've been searching on zilvia/google for this for 2 days. I remember the guy saying it was "Marine Exhaust Tubing" so of course i searched that, went through every page that it brought up, which was mostly guys joining the marines. I tried almost every synonym of Marine, and googling brings up fiberglass stuff thats not supposed to have much heat run through it.
Anyway, i remember seeing a guy here with what looked to be flexible rubber piping/tubing run from his turbo to his IC. I cant seem to find anything that will handle the heat/pressure without melting, and still being somewhat flexible. I know i'll have to clamp/brace it to keep it from trying to pull it self off of the IC or the turbo. Any one know what the hell i'm talking about?

PDM racing carries "4 ply Silicone Super Turbo Hose" Temperature range: -67 F to 347 F

Not sure if thats what you were looking for, but I plan on using it instead of aluminum IC pipes.
hmm, the stuff i saw was black, but that stuff looks interesting. looks like i need to plan out the lengths and see how much its going to cost.
does anyone have a clue what the black stuff was? the guy posted a picture here, too
Probably just regular silicone hose. Just ask the shop you're buying from what temp/pressure range the particular hose is designed for and make sure everything is ok.

you can also try turbohoses.com (i have no affiliation with them, i just know they sell silicone turbo hoses.)

Most hose & fitting distributors will sell the silicon material for about $15/ft if you buy more than 10ft.
You dont need 15', but buying 15' might be cheaper than buying 4ft at a retail cost.

Water discharge hose. You can get water discharge hose with a metal wire running through it, it will bend and hold whatever shape you put into it.

I just wonder why more people haven't done it if it's a superior alternative?

It's not superior to hard piping.

I have no idea why i didnt think about this.
Thanks a ton, you guys have given me enough stuff to search for that finding/buying this will be easy as shit.
