run whatever you want. with those sized wheels, what does it matter?

why is it called pizza cutter? and..... are there alot of other 240's that run 17x7 +40?

not on purpose,
he's just saying those are weak widths, most people go for something a little wider
I'm sorry, but that really made me laugh when I read it. "pizza cutter club"

try this - look for a wheel with minimum width/size ratio and minimum offset limit.
For example, I try to stick to this formula
15x7 -5 to 10
16x8 0 to 15
17x9 10 to 20
18x9/9.5 10 to 25

that's a little on the side of hard flush.
The width ratio will prevent the whole cookie cutter aspect (tall wheel, skinny tire) and the offset standards will keep the wheel more flush with the fender (preventing a sunken battleship or DriftGirl "Shadow Offset" ).

If you fail to do these things, your car will look silly (in most of our eyes) and your wheel/tire setup will not be as optimal for the performance of the car.

You're luck Kevin got here before the zilvia flame-brigade my friend. If you still want to run those honda rims, the tire size you mentioned will do the trick. If you want some real wheels, I would follow Mr.Meph's advise :D

personally im running 15X8" 0 offset with 215-50-15 size tires. Mmmm flush like toilets.

Yeah, it might be a good idea to add tire sizes to the sized mentioned by Mr.Meph, just so this thread doesn't become a flame-grill

BLEH you need to fix your car so you can even use all that power :)

I have 225's on my 15x7's wierd that there's not bad bulge, new ones will probobly be 215 though.

i woud run a better offset like a +35 or a +30

as to tires size a would go with a minimum of a 225/45r17 or a 235/45r17

and a 245/40r17 on the rear

205/45r17 are way to narrow and short for a silvia
good for a crappy honda but not a silvia (trust me i worked at a performance tire place for 3 years :) )

you guys are so mean. 17 x 7 +40 looks GREAT on a fastback

as long as you're looking at it from the side and the sun is behind you

That's STILL weak!:ugh:

Look at mrmephistopheles's guide above...

well its better than freakin +40

and yeah i know like a +15 or +20 would be way better but he started with a +40 so ya have to talk him down, kind of like a guy jumping off a bridge

and the magical mr mephistopheles is going alittle to the extreme

theres a difference between off set and back spacing. you can acheive the look without having a negative or very low offset by changing the backspacing

i know i have been in the tire and wheel business for years

i agree w/ tripleb, i'd take mr.meph's list and maybe add another 5mm on some that he listed, but that's just me...

and back on topic, and summary
205-40-17 on 17x7 would work, but zilvians would recommend you getting some better sizing on the wheel itself first...

so for 17's, i'd get 17x8 or 17x9, anything wider is pimp but i think is overkill on the s13 especially for the front...
